An Iraqi Man Created A Statue In Honor of the U.S. Troops and Our Fallen

I posted this back in Dec 2007. In light of the Iraqi President thanking President George W. Bush for liberating the Iraqi people, I thought of this article:

http://http://twana.wordpress.com/2008/09/13/an-iraqi-man-created-a-statue-in-honor-of-the-us-troops-and-our-fallen/

This statue currently stands outside the Iraqi palace, now home to the 4th Infantry division. It will event-ually be shipped home and put in the memorial museum in Fort Hood , TX.

The statue was created by an Iraqi artist named Kalat, who for years was forced by Saddam Hussein to make the many hundreds of bronze busts of Saddam that dotted Baghdad .

Kalat was so grateful for the Americans liberation of his country; he melted 3 of the heads of the fallen Saddam and made the statue as a memorial to the American soldiers and their fallen warriors. Kalat worked on this memorial night and day for several months. To the left of the kneeling soldier is a small Iraqi girl giving the soldier comfort as he mourns the loss of his comrade in arms.

Do you know why we don’t hear about this in the news? Because it is heart warming and praise worthy. The media avoids it because it does not have the shock effect… But we can do something about it!! We can pass this along to as many people as we can in honor of all our brave military who are making a difference.

Not to mention it was a completely unconstitutional use of our military. Cognitive dissonance abounds.

What is also frustrating is the neocon use of emotional pleas to make their case. This is a method I have long been used to the left using as a debate tactic.

I didn't know that it was our duty to free people from dictators. That we should travel the world toppling leaders that we don't like. That we should spend billions possibly trillions for humanitarian reasons.

I hate bleeding heart liberals.

How did I know the retards like the ones who posted before me would only bash the story?...

I find it interesting how those who support the war are often against welfare and yet when it comes to the war, they totally love spending billions on welfare.

What a joke. It is not the US's job to be the world's savior from dictators. Furthermore, it is a highly liberal policy to intervene around the world for non-US interests.

And cherokee, if you had arguments, make them. Relying on insults is a poor way of argumentation.

Perhaps if you had read the thread you'd actually know what people were talking about for a change. But given your history, that's not likely to start.

Does it bother you that people have come to a consensus that all you can do is insult people?

The war i Iraq is pure BS. We had not reason to attack, and we are only still there because Bush f_cked things up so much. Bush plays this war in order to get massive profit for his top ten CEO Buddies. Bush cares nothing for Iraq, its people, the USA, it's people.

Honor our troops? I was in the military and we only followed orders.
I honor our people in the military everywhere. Time to get them home and have them be safe.

He is the worst president in our history. He is even worse than Hoover.
