NY Senate Fiasco

Caffeine Fix Sets New York Legislature in Partisan Frenzy - Political News - FOXNews.com

I didn't see another story on this anywhere on the other forums, so I thought I'd post this here. This is the sleaziest of the sleazy. They passed bills "legally" because they witnessed another Senator walking through the chambers and counted him as "present". I don't care what party pulled this crap, I'd call them out on it because it isn't about right versus left anymore, it's about right versus wrong. This is just plain wrong, period. Citizens of New York should be outraged over this!

Welcome to Albany, but at least Patterson is being the mature one.

Re: NY Senate Fiasco

Voter fraud is how they get things passed these days. Dead people, cartoon characters, convicted felons, illegal immigrants, count them more than once even.

Guys walking through looking for a drink really is not that much of a stretch.

He counts! He counts!

Re: NY Senate Fiasco

It's sad to have to say it -- this should be strongly condemned and any Governor should refuse to sign as a matter of course and shouldn't be cited for virtue here, because it's really a matter of democratic duty -- but kudos to Paterson.

As a New Yorker, this entire affair has been humiliating for me.

I've watched for years as my neighbors repeatedly re-elected people who were obviously unfit for their position (Susan John, anyone?). I've ground my teeth while the state government proved utterly unable to pass budgets on-time (or at all), thus leaving local districts swinging in the breeze. I've thrown my hands up in frustration while the state government stole more and more of my civil liberties on the whim of only 3 men.

This entire affair is, by far, the lowest I've seen my state government sink. They've sunk to locking doors, hiding paperwork, name-calling and shouting over one another, not to mention stupid tricks like the one noted in the OP.

The taxes are bad, but this takes living in New York from just this side of unaffordable to just this side of unbearable.

TED,
Missing the days when they would rape us efficiently.
