Re: I got your relief package right here, punchy

I think it's time to push through a constitutional amendment for line item veto authority.

I'm reading through this and finding some more crap:
704. TEMPORARY TAX-EXEMPT BOND FINANCING AND
20 LOW-INCOME HOUSING TAX RELIEF FOR
21 AREAS DAMAGED BY HURRICANE IKE.

‘‘TITLE II—SPECIAL PROJECTS
2 ON FEDERAL LAND

‘‘SEC. 712. PARITY IN MENTAL HEALTH AND SUBSTANCE
7 USE DISORDER BENEFITS.’’.

What's even more ridiculous is that the Senators will be voting on this 500 page piece of garbage without even having read it. They'll just be told by lobbyists they cater to that it's got the goods they were looking for, so two thumbs up.

This is a total perversion of the Constitution to write bills like this.

I find it interesting that it started out with THREE PAGES. That's the government for you. If the government nationalized the beer industry, the instructions for making beer would consist of 20 volumes at 1,000 pages each, and they could not make the beer for under $2,500.00 per six pack.

True, but if you were poor, the democrats would find a way to subsidize those suds so you could get it for free.

Re: I got your relief package right here, punchy

By the way, we are no longer to call this a "bailout", it's now a rescue.

"The first thing I'd do is say,'Let's not call it a bailout,'' McCain said this morning. "Let's call it a rescue. Because it is a rescue of Main Street America..."

McCain is sure in a pickle now. He feels he has to pass this "rescue" plan, but if he passes a bloated bill with these earmarks, the dems are going to jump on the hypocrite express and he's gonna lose some credibility points.

Precisely why I say let the markets crash. They keep talking about this being a rescue plan for "Main Street", when it's just another hand out to anyone who can get their lobbyist to the trough fast enough.

Re: I got your relief package right here, punchy

I agree that trying to add anything to a bill this important is lame. They have enough of a problem trying to sell it to a mad populace without adding unnecessary conditions to it.

They just can't help themselves.

Pisses me off.

AFAIC, any unrelated pork would give me justification for voting no.
