Evaluate Bush on that. |

Evaluate Bush on that. | Well if THAT's the criteria we're using, Bush might not be doing that bad of a job...

Average real GDP growth was significantly better when Carter (3.3%) was president than either Bush (2.1% and 2.4%, respectively).
Carter got a bad rap because of high interest rates and a (relatively minor) recession in 1980. They both were the result of Carter appointing Volcker to the Fed in 1979 to clamp down the money supply to stop inflation.
Carter didn't cause inflation; it was spiraling when he became president as a result of poor monetary policy and the completely ineffective policies of Nixon (prices freezes) and Ford (silly "WIN" campaign) to stop it.
Carter appointed Vockler specifically to change monetary policy. Volcker clamped down, and interest rates went sky high, and caused a recession. It was bad timing for Carter, this happened in an election year and the Republican (rather ingenuously) invented a "misery index" which emphasized the high interest rates.
It was painful medicine, but it eventually worked -- the inflation spiral broke and within a few years, was down to reasonable levels. But by that time, Reagan was president, and in popular mythology he (wrongly) gets credit for it.
Carter didn't destroy the economy; he appointed as Fed Chairman the man who arguably saved it, and paid the political price for doing so.
Put that record up against Bush2, under whom the economy has been anemic, and who took the first surplus in decades and put the nation another $4 trillion in debat at a time it can least afford it.

I have more but I have a feeling I am posting this for nothing because it seems that you will NEVER admit to them anyway.
OR will you? | Wait a second, you said "Lets start off with a few of bushs screwups" and then you want me to name one President that has blah, blah, blah?
OK, let me simplify this for you since you numbered them:
1 - Who is on the brink of bankruptcy?
Assuming you mean the country (and by that you mean 'debt') - what was the last year the US wasn't in debt financially? And how is this entirely Bush's fault? Congress has a lot to blame for the way our national debt has skyrocketed during his Presidency, granted that Congress was Republican controlled during a big portion of his term. But this is not "Bush's fault" as Congress had just as much, if not more, to do with it than the President did.
2 - What does this have to do with Bush? Is he controlling the stock market and oil futures? Did he call China upon taking the oath of office and tell them to increase their demand on a monumental scale? Has he voted time and time against drilling in ANWAR?
3 - So the President is now responsible for military funding all by himself as well? I thought there were Congressional oversight committees for all of military spending? I mean, they vote on the budgets and they oversee it, but somehow it's all Bush's fault.
4,5 - I'm still waiting for a link on that LIE you keep screaming about? This is the third time I've asked for it and you keep ignoring it.
6 - LOL, rhetoric, simply hate-filled rhetoric. While I will agree with you that Bush isn't the most intelligent President we've ever had, he's far from stupid.
7 - Does Vietnam ring a bell? Bush poorly planned this war. The invasion was performed almost flawlessly, but the planning for a post-Saddam overthrow was piss poor. The surge was about 3 years overdue. He has made several mistakes, but the progress made in the past 18 months have been because he had the right people in place and he listened to them.
8 - Yawn...
9 - What does this have to do with his Presidency being a failed one? Absolutely nothing, it only further emphasizes your hatred for Bush and why reality doesn't register with you.
10 - This is your first point reworded - nice try though
11 - He has tried to do something about gas prices. But this is also closely tied to questions 1 and 10, yet again. The difference is that the free markets will all work this out in time. Any knee jerk reaction now will only make matters worse. But again, refer to my answer to your first question.
12 - Did Bush make people go out and buy homes that they couldn't afford and sign ridiculous loan terms with a variable interest rate? Nope, but because they did, you blame Bush? Wow, just wow.
13 - Yawn, do you really think the President of the United States takes a vacation like you or I do? He spends most of his time on vacation working. I used to have a job like that, but not anymore. Of course I'm sure the fact that he works a vast majority of his time on vacation doesn't matter, right?
14 - If closing VA Hospitals will improve the quality if care at the remaining VA Hospitals, then I'm all for it. Have you ever been to a VA Hospital or tried to be treated at one? The VA itself needs some serious repair. But if you think this all started with Bush, you aren't looking very far.
15 - See my response to #12. People can't manage their money. But once again, this is somehow all Bush's fault. I'm noticing a pattern here...
16 - Bush works for these companies that are buying this crap from China? That's news to me. I mean maybe he should be held responsible for everything that happens, right? Essentially that's exactly what you are doing.
17 - Bush borrowed money from China? Got a link?
18 - Questions 1 and 10 reworded into this - yawn
19 - LOL - how exactly has Bush hurt the automotive industry? The unions, along with inept management at the "Big 3" have ruined the US auto industry. The Foreign companies are making a better product for less and this is Bush's fault? This has been going on for years and years. Paying some guy $26 bucks an hour to screw in a side view mirror is what's killing the US auto industry. My family worked for Chrysler and I know what went on there. This is yet one more "point" of yours that completely falls on it's face.
20 - I have no idea what you are trying to say here, but I'm sure it's just more BS along with a vast majority of the rest of your "points".
Look, I get it - you don't like Bush. But your reasoning behind it is fatally flawed. You blame him for everything and this simply isn't true. The facts don't support most of your rants and it's clear that you simply don't care. So go ahead and keep on hating Bush, because it won't matter in a few months. He will no longer be in office and we can look forward to whoever the next President is being the worst President ever. Politicians are going to screw us all. It doesn't matter if they have a 'D' or 'R' next to their name. They care more about themselves and getting re-elected than they ever could about the people they represent. Bush's Presidency hasn't gone as well as most of us hoped, but it isn't a total disaster and he isn't responsible for everything that goes bad as you have been led to believe.

I'm no Bush apologist. The man's done almost nothing right since being re-elected and I'm not happy with how the war has been fought. Having said that, I'm going to defend him where he deserves to be defended. The baseless attacks that you and others carry out on him miss out on what he's done wrong. And blaming the sitting President for the acts of citizens who can't balance their own checkbook is lame at best. I served in the US Navy during the first Gulf War. I'm more upset at Bush 41 for not finishing the job then than I am at Bush 43 for not planning out the post-overthrow strategy. Had Bush 41 had the balls to take out Saddam in 1991, we wouldn't be in this mess now.
I care about the troops, more than many posters on this forum because I served myself. This war, while fought incorrectly for about 3 years, is not about what was done wrong and what was done right. It's now about how are we going to clean up the mess and get our troops home. Anyone can play armchair quarterback and point out every mistake Bush has made, but is it really going to change anything going forward? I don't believe in just pulling out of Iraq for the sake of pulling out. If we leave Iraq without giving the Iraqi's every option available to them to govern themselves and provide security for their people, it would be a great dishonor to those troops that have fallen or been injured during this war. If we leave Iraq and it falls into complete chaos, those soldiers gave life and limb for nothing.
I don't care if you hate Bush because it's insignificant to me. But if you are going to hate him, at least hate him for something factual and not BS. Blaming Bush for everything that happens in this country is nothing short of being intellectually dishonest. The reasons you gave for hating him are thinner than a piece of paper. I was easily able to shoot holes in all of them because there aren't any facts to support your illogical reasoning. There are plenty of reasons to hate Bush out there, but you didn't hit on a single one of them. Had you done so, I would be the first to let you know since you and I are the ones having this discussion.
Is the Bush Presidency a failure? Time will tell. It hasn't been what many of us that voted for him had hoped - not even close. But I shudder to think of what the alternative would be had Kerry or Gore won the election. If you really want to be angry at someone, be angry at the American voting public for not being able to provide a better alternative candidate than Kerry or Gore. I don't believe Obama is the right candidate either, but he is the only one that is representing the core of his party since McCain is clearly not representing his. |

Well for one if Gore got in we wouldn't have 4,000 of our Brave Troops DEAD for a stupid reason, like, bush lying to EVERYONE in the whole world!
And our Troops lives is ALL I care and cared about from 2001 on.
Other than that I wouldn't be on bushs ass because I have stated MANY MANY times here that ALL of our Politicans are NO GOOD!
BTW:
How can you defend bush when you know down deep inside you he is nothing but a complete ASS?
OR
Do you know it but will not admitt it?
BTW AGAIN:
I have also stated MANY MANY times here that I DO NOT HATE BUSH, I HATE what he has done to our Troops and ALL Americans.
-
Stop and take a real look around you and see just how screwed up this country is now and where it was in before bush took over.
Theres just NO WAY that you cannot see that.

Theres just NO WAY that you cannot see that. | You don't know what would have happened if Gore had won and neither do I. I think it's great that all you have cared about since 2001 is the troops. Did you care about them before then? If so, I bet Somalia really got you steamed, huh? I don't know "down deep inside that he is nothing but a complete ASS" and neither do you. You are merely trying to pontificate your ridiculous position. And this is now 4 opportunities I have given you to point out these Bush lies you keep clamoring about and still no response from you. Until you provide proof of these lies, I'm done debating with you. If you can't back up your position with fact, just "feelings", you're not worth my time or that of anyone else's on here. |
