America started its journey to independence in 1763 with the defeat of France in the French and Indian War, long before the Boston Tea Party. Witrh France defeated and ejected from North America, America was secure and had no further need of the King or of his parliament. There was a sea change in the world view of the Americans after 1763 that finally resulted in the Revolution.
That's not even taking into account the Declaration of Independence; one of its main objections was the idea that an island so small, so far across the sea, could legitimately rule the 13 colonies.

Any attempt to have GB settle a dispute, respond to a complaint, or hear report of a problem took a full year round-trip on a boat, plus whatever time the powers that be on the island decided to take drafting their response.

Well, rebellion was inevitable, anyway.

The fact that the nation survived both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars is due in large part to the interference/assistance received from across one ocean or another.

Heh, yeah, the kind of radical that would be all the excuse today's FBI would need to put you in a very dark hole for a very long time without so much as a phone call, much less a hearing before a judge.

Yeah, that's true...

but maybe our current government isn't comparable to a foreign monarchy which rules from over a thousand miles away in a different country

Oh, it is.

It's one city on the coast, where the business conducted by less than 1,000 people has a hand in the daily affairs of 300,000,000 people.

It's just as distant as the monarchy was, just as fascinated with the pursuit of its own power and influence, and only slightly more answerable to the electorate than the monarchy was to the colonists.

Your basing your concept of economics on folky myths of family farms that are utterly alien to our current world.
You should read the book called "Dynasties". Its from a well known phd who talks about family businesses which are still strong and continue to dominate as compared to non-family businesses. Think Toyota, Ford, Rockerfellers, JP Morgan, Rothchilds, Baring, Peugeot.

Research before you state things as facts.

You know, a lot of people were asking that very same question, as Bush was shoveling loads of money into the coffers of Haliburton.

Re: McCain refuses to sign on to GI Bill

Actual very few people were asking that question.
