Well there is 12 pages on that link you gave me. I like to look things through. I treat opening articles like opening paragraphs. The devil is in the details, especially when it comes to government issues. I think you'll agree with that.

If you support water boarding, then you are not supporting the troops.
Our enemy does not do that horrible waterboarding......They cut off prisoners heads........

Is that supposed to somehow justify waterboarding?

Re: The Green Light [on torture]

Danarhea,
“Just remember that, when you support waterboarding, you are enabling our enemies, now, and in the future, to do the same to our troops”
I would rather they water board our troops then be-head our troops.

“If you support water boarding, then you are not supporting the troops.”
Water Boarding is legal so our troops support it and they do it. I have many friends and family in the Marines and if it were up to them, they’d use more then water to save their fellow Marines.

Light,
“You've never once heard of a prisoner being released in AG or GB?”Perhaps there’s a real good reason none of them have been released. Just a thought.

Cascadian,
“I wonder how much bogus and useless information we would have gotten from innocent people who would say anything to make it stop.”
Very good point. I’m sure that we’ve been given tons of bogus information, but I’d take 100 lies just to get 1 truth to save 1 life. Wouldn’t you?

“What??? I don't particularly remember silence following beheadings. There is a bit of war-weary numbness after a while, but it's hardly tacit approval.”
Yes, it made the news, barely. But, when America pours water over their heads, my God man, its global front page news for weeks and the world hates us.

No was just comparing it to cutting off ones head.............Which do you think is a more harsh punishment?

I would much prefer waterboarding if I were a prisoner.........

Why does it have to be about qualifying torture? Obviously cutting off one's head doesn't compare to waterboarding. I've already stated previously in this thread that I don't feel we come close to doing as bad as our enemies. However, that still doesn't excuse or justify use of torture by us.

Re: The Green Light [on torture]

How is it logical to classify anyone 'better' than the enemy? That's sophist bull****. You're only as morally good in the eyes of the beholder. Better? Don't make me laugh. A marine is no better than any jihad - they're both struggling for something.

So now waterboarding is just referred to as "being mean"? That's a pretty pathetic cop out. According to a study by Dr. Allen Keller, waterboarding can cause long term psychological damage such as panic attacks, depression and PTSD. I'd say that goes beyond "being mean".
