Powell didn't like the direction the GOP was heading at the time and stopped supporting their agenda, although he remains a republican.

He never played the race card as you say either.

He articulated his reasons openly to anyone who asked.

When Colin Powell allowed a basically innocent man, Scooter Libby, to go to jail when he knew he was not the one that blew the cover on Valerie Plame, that's when I knew he was fundamentally dishonest.

On the heels of that, he did, to my mind, in fact play the race card. First with disparaging remarks on race in America. Then, based on what could only be because of race, openly giving his support to the candidate of another party, Barrack Obama, when Obama had so many negatives, so many anti-American connections [ Rev Wright preaching for 20 years against America, the former Weathermen, Ayers and Dohrn, his socialist/anti-colonial, anti-American upbringing starting with his father, his mother, his mentors, etc...] all of which, if he didn't know he should surely have made himself aware prior to supporting the Obama presidency.

But still, he is but a bit player, when compared to the Clintons.

I will vote for that bitch Hillary Clinton because Trump is so grossly awful, but if Powell was running against her he would get my vote, and I think he would get enough other votes to finally put Hillary in the kitchen, where she has always belonged, baking cookies and whatnot.

Powell made some mistakes and I think he sometimes let loyalty get in the way of doing the right thing. We have no idea what Powell really thinks of Hillary. He isn't the kind of person to air dirty laundry. And yes, he subscribes to the whole "voting the lesser of two evils" philosophy that most Americans do. That doesn't make him corrupt.

He has made wrong choices before but, unlike the people we have running for office this election, there is no evidence that he did so for personal gain.

Colin Powell is flawed, but he is not corrupt.
