I've never understood the push for the Fairness Doctrine. It makes absolutely no sense.

What about the Democrats' attempt to strip workers of basic voting rights, or them trying to ban conservative books, or them shouting down, assaulting conservative speakers, vandalizing property, or them lying about votes they lost, erasing the results, and then re-writing the record, or them using the human shield tactic incessantly, or them kicking senators out of their party for being only 95% liberal, or them perpetually inventing partisan scandals?

I agree... who thought that regulating opinions on the airwaves was a good idea, let alone constitutional?

Of those, I can see extremely (extremely) limited cases of shouting down conservative speakers and vandalizing property as only vaguely legitimate. While I can see disagreeing with the "Bush cheated in Ohio" theory and even some partisan scandals, but what do those have to do with free speech?

I'm guessing that links for human shields is too much to ask.

It isn't so when clear channel owns an overwhelming % of the radio stations isn't that in effect silencing other peoples frre speech?

No, go buy a station. Audition for Clear Channel and show them you can bring in revenue. Write a letter to the editor. Write a magazine article. Set up your own blog.

You have plenty of free speech opportunities.

That is not as easy as you might think.

Free speech is contingent is dependent on revenue?
That is like justice is for those who can afford it.

Getting published in this manner is very dependent on fashion.

Yes we do and since the 80's the opportunities have become slimmer and slimmer through the consolidation of the mass media. And now we get market driven news casts vs journalism driven newscasts. But damn the newscasters are alot prettier.

So what, you have no right to easy free speech. But Clear Channel started out small, you just have to want it bad enough.

If you are going to use a commercial outlet. How many newspapers operate without revenue?

No it's not.

I have had most of my letters published.

Actually the market for talk on the radio has grown and grown and grown. How many times have you called in to a show?

We get both, and plenty of them.

For liberals to say they have no free speech is ludicrous. They simply want to silence speech they don't agree with.
