Re: Live vote: Do you believe President Bush's actions justify impeachment?

Why don't you people post your evidence to back up what you're saying?

Because right now, all you're saying is a bunch of bull****!

You might think its one way, but it is obvious, you don't know it's that way.

Over 500,000 people is a large sampling. And unless you have proof that there wasn't, you're just spewing partisan bull****!

And I know why, because you only make up 10% of the country that thinks the way you do.

Re: Live vote: Do you believe President Bush's actions justify impeachment?

Billo, I am no Bush-lover, but even I don't buy this poll. There is no scientific basis nor any reasonable methodology. It is totally flawed and irrelevant. Like most, if not all polls from TV news networks. None of them have any scientific methodology, which is why I would discount them outright.

Er, I did. You responded to that post.

Seriously billo, if you do a little research about how statistics work, you'll see that this is a ridiculous poll.

One week in the middle of the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal, more than 200,000 people took part in an MSNBC Live Vote that asked whether President Clinton should leave office. Seventy-three percent said yes. That same week, an NBC News-Wall Street Journal poll found that only 34 percent of about 2,000 people who were surveyed thought so.
If you don't understand that this poll means absolutely nothing, I don't know what more to tell you. Compare it to any other scientific poll that asks the same question.
This is like comparing apples and oranges. Without knowing the particulars of each poll, how can we possibly compare or contrast them analytically for the purposes of this discussion. Are we just to take for granted that your analogy is the same? In this case here, the MSNBC poll was ridiculous because the results of the WSJ poll was corroborated by the fact that Bill Clinton was a very, very popular President.

But that's not what we have now. The MSNBC poll (now) is corroborated by the fact that Bush is as un-popular as Clinton was popular. So, this poll is more likely to be accurate. Unless you have a current WSJ poll to throw in my face.

Furthermore, if you can't come up with specific evidence proving this particular poll is fraudulent, ficticous or just for fun, then stop acting like it's a given this is a bull**** poll. At this point, we have only two possible choices,
  1. accurate
  2. inaccurate
and that's it!

I prefer to give this poll the benefit of the doubt. Because here in America, American's believe a person is innocent until proven guilty (unless you're a neocon, then your as guilty as sin).

So either, prove it or lose it!

You honestly believe that 89% of the American people want Bush impeached? If that was true, it would've already happened. In case you hadn't noticed, the Democrats control both houses of Congress.

Are you saying that his ~30% approval rating is based on unscientific polls, but this poll IS scientific?

Okay, smart guy, what is a scientific survey?

And how does that compare with this one?

And why is that relevent to this discussion?

And how does that disprove these results?

The Dems don't have the votes in Congress to get it done. And the Reps are still clinging to this belief that they actually have a support base in this country. Have you seen what this country thinks of Congress compared to Bush?

Bush is ahead of Congress by 7%.

The people who did this survey never intended for you to take it seriously. They said so themselves.

from the below cited source:

Quote:
The major distinguishing difference between scientific and unscientific polls is who picks the respondents for the survey. In a scientific poll, the pollster identifies and seeks out the people to be interviewed. In an unscientific poll, the respondents usually "volunteer" their opinions, selecting themselves for the poll.

The results of the well-conducted scientific poll can provide a reliable guide to the opinions of many people in addition to those interviewed -- even the opinions of all Americans. The results of an unscientific poll tell you nothing more than simply what those respondents say.
Quote:

This is unscientific.

Quote:
And why is that relevent to this discussion?
Because one is valid and one is not.

Quote:

It doesn't "disprove" them, it just lends no credibility to them. It's completely useless. If you still don't understand this and refuse to educate yourself about the most basic statistics, I'm not going to try to explain it any further. I and many other posters have shown you why you're wrong and provided you with links to places where you can learn about this for yourself.

I guess you can lead a billo to truth but you can't make him open his eyes and see it.
