It is prtetty much written in the wind Linday Lohan will commit suicide beore here 25th birthday. As far as Paris Hilton goes she is as influencial as Zha-Zha Gabor was in the sixties, a real loser. Britnet Spears will live on as one of the sociopath, manufactured idol stars in recent history; a copy cat of Madonna in every concievable way, a tragic figure.

I think Paris will continue on as a minor celebrity forever. Zsa Zsa is an appropriate comparison. Britney absolutely WILL become a Super Christian at some point. There is no doubt of this in my mind.

I'm not sure what's going to happen to Lindsay.

Except the fact that Madonna is actually still pretty successful in her late 40s. I see Britney tanking in her early to mid thirties unless she really cleans up. As for Hilton all she really has is Daddy Hilton's checkbook to do her ventures but I read recently that Grandfather Barron Hilton has cut her off so who knows.

The fact that this comparison actually came up really disgusts me...

Are we so interested in celebrities that we put them on the news about thier daily mishaps? Who the ***** gives a sh!t about what Paris, Britney and Lindsays does and says?? They're arrogant, ignorant, and ill-mannered b!tches. I don't understand why people actually want to know what happens to these people. I don't know whether there was more coverage on those three than on Iraq in the past year. It seems like every night there is something to say about Paris Hilton, but yet there's little about the developments in Iraq and the Middle East. WTF???

I couldn't have cared less about what was the verdict of Anna Nicole's case when she died. But CNN and FOX dedicated hours on end to cover the trial and all that bullsh!t. I guess they knew scandals would sell better on TV than the Iraq Occupation.

Seriously, comparing Lindsay Lohan and Scooter Libby's situations is a symptom of having your priorities in whack. I just wish everyone can just stop paying attention to these idiots, it's probably what's feuling the media machine. I just can't understand why people are so apt to find out what happens to all these idiot celebrities like Steve-O and Paris, but when you ask these apt fans about Karl Rove, Haliburton, Hugo Chavez, John Bolten, Ann Coulter, they just screw up their faces and look confused.

Sorry for this rant, but the media is driving me nuts!

Celebrities provide important psychological services to society.

As a member of society we're all constrained by a variety of norms and mores that restrict our behavior.

Celebrities are given free reign to flaunt those norms and mores because we find it emotionally satisfying to see someone "live the life", but we all understand that there is no way that such behavior could become commonplace.

When we tire of their excess, excess which we allowed and encouraged, we slap down the trap of social restriction and self righteously congadulate ourselves on supporting "equality"

I love Nicole Richie and Lindsay Lohan because every time they have gross back-room sex and do blow, they're not just doing it for themselves, they're doing it for legions of average slobs who are bored with their 9-5 lives and tepid family.

They're heroes.
