joke Fun Feud. Enjoy!

The Yard Sign Feud [jrrl.com]

You've got to actually go read the blogging about the transformation of a neighborhood via signs, and more signs; with the blogger offering all manner of interesting little comments and tidbits about the home owners.

It started innocently. A McCain sign and an Obama sign. Two neighbors exercising their right of free speech. About as wholesome and American as you can get.

All it took was one of them to add a second sign. I don't know who pulled that trigger first, but after that there was no turning back. Each added more signs.

Somewhere in the last week or so, the McCain supporter upped the ante by replacing a couple of small signs with one big one. The Obama supported stuck to smaller signs, but multiplied them.

Here's how it looks today:

If it gets more interesting before election day, I'll post updates.

Our HOA doesn't allow yard signs. I guess I kinda see their point after seeing this.

Seems like the typical stupid mentality of "if you shout it loud enough it will be so".
The winner in all this? McCain and Obama campaigns.

Get a lawyer. You can beat them in court. Courts have already established that the banning of political yard signs amounts to the suppression of free speech.

My yard sign would say "Bite this, HOA".

I actually think that's BS. Even with what's going down on those houses free speech, especially political speech, must be held to its maximum.

And a HOA isn't government, so they can suppress all the speech they want. What court cases are you talking about?

Oops, you are right on that. When someone buys a house in a neighborhood controlled by a HOA, they are signing away their free speech rights, according to a New Jersey decision. That decision was reversed by the New Jersey Appellate Court, then reversed again by the New Jersey Supreme Court.

My bad, but I don't think this issue is over with. As for anybody who is looking to buy a home, read the contract carefully. You could be signing away your Constitutional freedom. LOL.

New Jersey decision is here.
