We see their resumes throughout the election season....every interview, every townhall, etc. The debates are the interview process. Palin failed during her interview.

Definitely not a problem Missy.
But you just have to watch the 10 minute video - it is hilarious and a great way to end a Friday night! It really does capture the essence of things.
SNL won't be able to touch this!

Yeah, but see - the hard-right does not see it that way. All they see is the Barracuda/Maverick/Soccer Mom/Joe 6 Pack/Change Agent/Reformer/Good Ole Boy Network Destroyer and quite frankly, that's all they care about. Forget about the fact that none of it is true.
The fact that she just told her hiring manager (We The People) that I'm not going to answer your questions and I’ll respond by telling you want I want you to hear, means nothing to these guys.
Just as long as we can “feel good” about her, that’s enough – qualities like depth of understanding, command and control of the issues, on topic fluidity, direct responsiveness, decisive facts, on the fly dialog, well reasoned verbal output, etc., are just throw-a-way items to some people.
And, they wonder why Obama/Biden is better! Obama has gone through an almost 2 year public vetting process where they have every insult at both him and his family. His Wife has been called a three headed monster and a racist. He has been painted as a radical Muslim and sleeper cell agent for Al Qaeda (no joke – I’ve seen it out there!). He’s been tied to terrorists, law breakers, drug dealers and the like. None of it true. None of it substantiated. None of it relevant or germane. None of it contextual or even halfway cogent.
Yet, he never once told anybody that he would not answer they question. He never once showed insubordination during the interview process.
The public vetting process is the only thing that We The People get and NO candidate has the right to jerk that process off by avoiding the media, not asking direct questions and failing to engage in debate rebuttal. That is a clear sign that somebody is trying desperately to hide something – like a lack of knowledge.
Good point! |

Gender: | Re: Debate Victory? (or) The Gibson/Couric Trigger? Sarah Palin was interviewed by FOX today. She says she was 'impatient' and 'annoyed' by Katie Couric's questions recently, and that's why her answers were so silly and 'flippant.'
Funny thing. Palin could actually name 2 Supreme Court cases for the FOX guy. I guess he was nice enough for her to grace him with a coherent line or two. Also, she told him about some publications she reads. On the other network, last week, she couldn't do that... |

Good point! | Why does the public hear a lie and believe it to be the truth?
Why don't people investigate......deeply?
Why do you think Americans have become so listless with the process?
Maybe it's always been this way and I just didn't start paying attention until eight years ago
What do you think? |

Claiming now, at this point, that she was impatient and annoyed by Couric's questions, is sort of a slap in the face to Katie. Katie was only asking direct questions with follow-up attached and seeking in-depth answers from one calling them self, "ready on day one."
At first, I was honestly feeling sorry for Palin, with all the negative media attention she was getting. I don't like seeing people gang-up on the weaker or the helpless and really thought that McCain and Rove were doing her a bad turn. But, at this point, I'm losing my patience with with Palin and her foolish provocative attitude. Her little comment to Biden the other day (Say it ain’t so Joe) caught my ear as being a little disrespectful. Biden had every opportunity in his hand to really embarrass Palin and he did not do it - he restrained himself. Palin needs to watch her step - she looks like a petulant child at times trying to behave like an adult. I'm getting a little tired of her 'attitude' to be quite honest.
I also thought holding that victory lap convention after the debate was a little silly. You would think that she just single handedly won the Super Bowl MVP award or something. It was bizarre. It was like she was celebrating her ability to repeat memorized talking points. These guys seem to celebrate the most bizarre and pointless things. It is getting a little old at this point. I'm a very patient dude myself, but I'm getting a little annoyed myself.
The whole thing seems like one big joke to me, Try. |

Originally Posted by missypea Why does the public hear a lie and believe it to be the truth? | Missy, you just opened up a can of worms, here! This is a topic that I've been reluctant to start a thread on, honestly. I don't want people to misunderstand my motives, but I do have a theory about this. However, that theory is going to be very difficult for some on this board to hear. I can tell you that I honestly believe that there is a cognitive disconnect that has much to do with the overall educational experience and background of ‘certain’ voters. The facts are that most Democrats, who are politically active, do have a higher degree of education than their same Republican counterparts. Most Democrats hold more college degrees (graduate and post-graduate) than do their Republican counterparts. Missy, in all honesty, I truly think that this is a major factor that underpins a possible answer to your question.
Why do Republican Presidents traditionally fail to follow-through on issues related to education? Why do we traditionally hear about Democratic Presidents taking the lead on education, K-12 as well as college? What’s going on here! Well, I think this goes to the heart of your question. I really do think that the dumb’ing down of America has a ton to do with a person who cannot see the forest for the trees. How else can anyone explain the George W. Bush vote! That vote makes no sense at all. There was no logical or rational nexus between moving the country along the $5 Trillion budget surplus trajectory and 20 million job growth trajectory left behind by Clinton and a vote for a man who was considered technically AWOL at the TANG and just as un-Presidential as Palin is today. What makes the irrational vote for Bush W. even more illogical and irrational, is that people turned around four (4) years later and did the exact same thing – despite the fact that we knew he lied, falsified or had falsified the National Intelligence Estimate on Iraq’s Continued Weapons of Mass Destruction Program according to the early 90’s and 02’s estimates.
When you don’t take your responsibility as a Citizen seriously, don’t take the time to educate yourself on the issues thoroughly and/or adequately, allow your personal bias and bigotry to drive major decisions in your life; you end up making the perfect candidate for the manipulation that will most certainly come your way and I think that this is WHY we are in the mess that we find ourselves today in this country. Our economy has been wrecked. Our reputation around the world has been ruined. Our moral standing abroad has been compromised. Our soldiers have been killed in action for a stack of lies (may God bless their souls) and there has been zero genuine leadership, ethical stability, moral backbone and/or structural character exhibited by anyone in the current White House.
There is no possible way to explain that absent the dumb’ing down process. I know that will be picked-up as being harsh and elitist and all the other inaccurate names that you give someone calling a spade a spade, but there is simply no other way to account for our brainless behavior. I blame all of us by the way Missy, but I do believe that there is a particularly unique statistical element to this that comes predominantly from the ‘Right’ in our country – but not exclusively.
Bottom line, we’ve all got to take more accountability for what it means to be an American. Being an American is no joke, nor is it easy. We are the most powerful nation on earth (for now) and that means that in a representative form of government (Democratic Republic), we co-own this nation and WE are responsible for our elected officials at every level. When they fail, WE fail with them. When they fail, their failure has the potential to not only have a massive negative impact on us, but the entire planet as well. Therefore, it is incumbent upon us all to take our Citizenship extremely seriously and learn not just how to make a living here, but how to protect our Democracy by not allowing the minority elite to rule us via manipulation and deceit. There is NO WAY to accomplish that end, absent a serious desire to learn and understand how our government works AND how it is supposed to work under the Constitution of the United States of America.
The sheer weight of American Citizenship, should ground each of us in a firm acceptance of reality knowing that what we do every single day of our lives could potentially impact future generations of Americans and indeed the entire world. Being an American Citizen, therefore, carries a massive level of personal, mutual, national and global responsibility unlike any on earth and we simply have not yet graduated to that level of consciousness, Missy.
I know it ‘sounds’ harsh, but I think it is the tough medicine that we (The People) need to hear. |
