In an election campaign notable for its surprises, Sarah Palin, the Republican vice- presidential candidate, may be about to spring a new one — the wedding of her pregnant teenage daughter to her ice-hockey-playing fiancé before the November 4 election.
| Yes, the baby is getting married!... maybe
If that is all they got, god help them

I love it when some of the people in this very thread like to say how mean, evil, disgusting, rude, [fill in adjective here] Republicans are. Just shows you how big of a joke people can be

Ooooooh, now that was a low blow - but, I guess it is better than actually using that shotgun to shoot the McCain ticket in the foot!

I'm not a Democrat nor am I a Republican, but I have to stop you in your tracks right here and set the record straight.
The problem that people have with McCain's pick of Palin, aside from the fact that she's clueless on the issues that Americans care about, is that it has been the Republican Party (for the past 20 years or so) throwing "Family Values" into the face of America and basically telling the world that if you don't have their family values, then you are basically an immoral slut who will die and go straight to hell.
So, when one of their own gets hit with an immoral vector, it smokes their family value assertion and tanks their credibility as being the party of morality. When they coddle that person and make every excuse in the world for why having a child out of wedlock and getting sexed up under-age, is now "in vogue" and/or "ok", people tend to look at that as being highly hypocritical at best.
So, you see, it is the total hypocrisy within the Republican Party over the 'baby' issue that I think most people are rejecting, not Palin's family specifically.
Can you imagine if one of Obama's children were old enough to be involved in pre-marital sexual activities and then came up pregnant at age 17? They would have hung Obama from the nearest press conference they could find, painting both Michelle and Obama as the worst parents to ever walk planet earth. They would have had Michelle in tears by now with all the innuendo and personal attacks on her parenting style.
So, again, it is not Palin's family that is the focus here, it is Republican Family Values Hypocrisy that people are responding to, IMO.
This ranks up there with telling the people of New Orleans that Katrina was a message directly from God, given their immoral lifestyle. Or, that 911 was another shot at America, because of the nation's stance on Abortion.
It is this kind of thick hypocrisy that has been delivered form the Right for years without understanding that such hypocrisy would eventually come home to roost. When you campaign on "Family Values" - you really do have to keep your nose clean and given the fact that we are all human beings, that is not very practical because we all make mistakes.
Over the years, "Family Values" has become code for Liberalism is 100% bad for America and Conservatism is 100% good for America. In other words, those with "Family Values" are good and decent people while others are not. Eventually, that is going to come back to bite you.
