In just reading the wording, I don't like it. However, if he said it in a joking manner, it would not bother me.

Not sure how "argue with your neighbors" and "get in their face" can really be said in a joking manner.

Undoubtedly it will be spun as a republican overreaction to poor word choice. How many times can that tired excuse work? You know--you can dress up his words and slather on the lip gloss, but a pig is still a pig.

I read that and think "eh." But I saw it last night, and I rewound my TIVO because I thought his delivery was hilarious, and so did the audience. I can picture someone joking and saying, "Get in their face." If, however, he was serious when making that statement, I wouldn't like it. So if there's a way to see in what manner he said this, I'd like to see it.

It seems to me that he was charging his supporters to go out and engage people. Granted, "get in their face" could have been worded differently but looking at the clip, it seems to me that Obama was saying "there's work to be done and we (collective) need to do it.

or........just look at my signature for a better understanding of where I think he was going with this.

That IS a joke--he's using irony. It was a political speech, not a comedy routine (hopefully). Every line isn't a joke and again, I'm trying to imagine HOW the "argue...in their face" could somehow be a joke. I can't figure out a way.

It's more than just nasty politics IMO--he's encouraging civil unrest with statements like that. Not smart IMO. I can just see it now: Someone takes this charge too far and then... "Well, Obama told me to get in his face--he didn't say my neighbor might cold-cock me one for it!"
