It is that kind of ignorance that focuses the spotlight on the type of people who actually vote for men like George W. Bush and Dick Cheney.
What do you think America is composed of anyway? How many 'foreign' sounding names do you think laid down their lives for YOU in the War of Independence, Revolutionary War, World War I and World War II (the righteous wars)?
What kind of human being makes value judgments based on the spelling of a name?
Intelligent people make value judgments based upon the content of an individual’s character, integrity, accomplishments, actions, deeds and work-product.
Intelligent people are watching and will be participating in this election cycle in droves. They know character when they see it. They look at a man like George W. Bush and wonder how he got elected, even when he was in violation of military law when he refused to report for duty after being taken down from active flight status and after failing his flight physical. Intelligent people wonder how a man who was AWOL was legally able to become the President and Commander In Chief. Intelligent people will look at Arbusto and wonder how George W. Bush ran that company into the ground and could still somehow become Governor of Texas. Intelligent people will look at Dick Cheney, as he fought for five (5) military deferments to avoid the war in Vietnam, and then later claim to be qualified as Vice President to spearhead the President's call to war in Iraq - as he sacrifices the lives of those who did not seek five (5) military deferments to avoid serving their country.
Intelligent people will look at John McCain's very honorable military record and honestly conclude that the man is a genuine, living, breathing American Hero, even though McCain himself will deny it in public and private. Intelligent people will never attempt to take anything away from McCain's service to country as a member of our Armed Services. Those same intelligent people will also look at the moral decision that McCain made to dishonor his wife by having an affair and by doing so, violating his vows. Intelligent Americans will also remember his contribution to the Savings & Loan scandal by proving air cover to those who fleeced America to the tune of billions.
Intelligent people will be able to look at the relationship between Obama and Michelle and see the genuine affection between the two and they will note that Obama has been faithful to his wife and thus his vows to her (a fair comparison to make). Intelligent people will note the work Obama did in the earliest portion of his career, as he stood up for people who were having difficulty standing up for themselves. Intelligent people will also note that Obama, having the ability to write his own ticket in life, decided instead to help those in his community who needed it the most. Intelligent people will note that not one single human being alive today that has worked directly with Obama throughout his career, has anything bad or negative to say about him (pretty amazing when you consider the career he's selected).
Bottom line, intelligent people are going to make the difference in this election (this time) and none of those people will be pinned down by their own racist, bigoted and/or sexist attitudes that are demonstrated by those attempting to determine the measure of a candidate by their ethnicity, pedigree, sex or name.
The issue is STILL the economy, stupid. (notice the use of the comma prior to the adjective) Not middle names.
