GWB bankrupted the integrity of this country with out allies. A new leader without the history of GWB might be able to begin to repair that damage.

In the real world, politics is compromise and democracy is politics. Anyone who would be a statesman has to be a successful politician first. Also, a leader has to deal with people and nations as they are, not as they should be. As a result, the qualities required for leadership are not necessary those that we would want our children to emulate - unless we wanted them to be leaders. |

How are they going to say no to donating money to Iraq or relieving Iraqi debt? Without Dubya in office, it's going to be a lot harder to say no to requests coming out of the US. | There is no overwhelming hatred of America. In fact I have met very few people who hate America. Although I do meet people who hate what America has become in the last 5-7 years, including myself. |

I had been told to expect a lot of anti-America sentiment.
What I found was most people there loved Americans and had no hatred for America.....but they left no doubt about their feelings for GWB.
THAT's the problem....and THAT is exactly why Obama is the man we need. We need someone who will repair the damage that Bush has done with our Allies.
Bush and his isolationist....screw everybody else...we'll go it alone mentality...marginalized our allies and damaged our reputation in the world community. I believe that both Obama and McCain can work to repair that damage...however, I think Obama has the upper hand here.....as was evidenced by the support he has gotten this last week. |
