When Clinton and Bush Sr were in office they got on the boat. But when Dubya they have been almost adversarial. The situations requiring their help really haven't changed. Without Dubya hating to hide behind, what could they use as cover?

They actually were very complimentary towards America.....but the vast majority of Europeans couldn't understand how we could have somebody as inept as Bush running this Country.

In fact, Rumsfield tried to get Bush Sr. to invade Iraq 2 decades ago.....Bush Sr. told him to get lost. Rumsfield had to wait another decade to find someone dense enough that he could get to go along with his agenda..... |

Anti-US sentiments during the Clinton and Bush Sr years were way below what we see today, especially in Europe. Bush Sr even got Syria to join the coalition against Saddam. That's hardcore. And Obamamania is sweeping Europe too. Without Dubya in office, what will they hide behind? |

We need help in Southern Afghanistan and Germany said no to Bush. How can they say no to a candidate they are bending over backwards for? |

Just saying. It's fun to make fun of the French however, if you're making fun of them but are completely ignorant of what France and their military is actually like, the joke is on you. Not them.

In the real world, politics is compromise and democracy is politics. Anyone who would be a statesman has to be a successful politician first. Also, a leader has to deal with people and nations as they are, not as they should be. As a result, the qualities required for leadership are not necessary those that we would want our children to emulate - unless we wanted them to be leaders. |
