Current Mood: | Gas prices hurt? Dems solution is to raise it. Why do we wonder why the left won't allow drilling, building of refineries to lower gas prices? it is apparent by thier actions that YOU are not paying enough yet.
This bill by the dems would incease what you pay at the pump 10 cents per gallon.
Do you agree with this plan and are you happy with what you pay at the pump? No gas tax holiday: Congress considers raising pump tax to help repair crumbling highways -- Newsday.com Quote:
No gas tax holiday: Congress considers raising pump tax to help repair crumbling highways

WASHINGTON (AP) _ The political vision of a summer gas tax holiday died a quick death in Congress, losing to a view that federal excise taxes on gasoline and diesel fuel will have to go up if they go anywhere.
Despite calls from the presidential campaign trail for a Memorial Day-to-Labor Day tax freeze, lawmakers quickly concluded — with a prod from the construction industry — that having $9 billion less to spend on highways could create a pre-election specter of thousands of lost jobs.
Now, lawmakers quietly are talking about raising fuel taxes by a dime from the current 18.4 cents a gallon on gasoline and 24.3 cents on diesel fuel.
With gas prices setting records daily, Republican presidential hopeful John McCain and former Democratic candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton called for a 90-day suspension of the federal fuel tax to give drivers a little relief at the pump. The fuel taxes go into the Highway Trust Fund, which is used for road construction and repair and mass transit.

Gender: | Re: Gas prices hurt? Dems solution is to raise it. November cannot come fast enough. With approval for Congress nearing 10% it will be interesting to see how many get ousted. The tax holdiay was a ridiculous and short sighted idea, but raising the tax hits where it already hurts and just puts more weight on low-income families. The sensationalist crap you spewed in that first paragraph aside, the Democrats in Congress continue to repeatedly make decisions that make nobody happy on either side. |

That would be great if we were not all depnendant on the trucking industry....
Are you really for higher gas prices?
And if what you say is true then the purpose of this bill is bunk. |
