Are you really for higher gas prices?

And if what you say is true then the purpose of this bill is bunk.
I'm all for it. We've brought this on ourselves through ridiculous demand. Or what did you think would be the result of driving ATVs, SUVs, Ski-Doos, Sea-Doos, Gas powered law mowers, Motorcycles, Sport cars, hummers etc etc? Our own lifestyle is what has brought these gas prices on us. Not Haji blowing himself up in some Israeli cafe or some NWO type group plotting about how to sink the 'angry white man'. Now please scream about how I'm a liberal that doesn't care that the lifestyle of the very Americans who are complaining about gas prices is what has made gas prices so high. I revel in this fact. If the country bumpkins want to complain about gas prices they can take it up with the people making such high demands. Not me for not giving a **** that they can't collect carrots this year.

Uhm. My motorcycle gets 50mpg and thats riding it like a whipped mule. Makes a prius look like a hummer, but anyway.....

So your idea is because some of us have these things you listed, that all people, including the ederly, the poor should pay .10 more per gallon to pay for the roads and when demand drops, what happens to that money for the roads?

And what economic impact do you see with this .10 increase on the trucking and the airline industries?

Same as the farmers who can't fuel their tractors. Take it up with the people wasting fuel on road trips, driving to the convenience store 2 blocks away and who use gas powered lawn mowers. Not the government.

Don't know don't care. I fly once a month maybe. An extra $100-$200 doesn't affect me economically and I don't plan on bitching to the government like some small government-Reagan conservatives do. And even if it did affect me, I simply would opt not to fly.

You blamed driving motorcyles as part of the problem. I demonstrated you were wrong.

Point conceded?

Good.

Right because democrats refusing to allow drilling and refineries and taxing gas has NOTHING to do with the problem. It's only our fault.

Is this your position?

Hmm us "small government-reagan conservatives" just want you to explain how increasing the gas tax by 10 cents a gallon and by your post reducing demand then costs will 1. help the poor immediatly. 2. pay for the roads as this bill is suppoed to do.

Thanks!

You demonstrated you have a bike that is fuel efficient. Now please demonstrate that your bike is the most widely owned motorcycle around or that the majority of motorcycle are fuel efficient vehicles according to the fuel efficient standards.

It has been demonstrated multiple times on this forum that drilling would not amount to a significant drop in fuel prices simply because we do not have the capacity to supply the American people with they demand they put on oil. You refuse to acknowledge this evidence even though it's been brought to your attention in multiple threads you currently subscribe to.

It won't. Democrats haven't stated it would. What has been stated is that :

1. If gas prices are higher. Then by default demand will drop. If demand drops. So will prices. It's a circle friend. A circle.

2. The reason gas prices are so high is because of high demand. Which drilling offshore won't satisfy unless we demand that oil companies who drill for the oil give us a ridiculous discount on the oil they drill.

Are you unaware that taxes go towards road repairs? :confused

My original response that we “should have raised taxes twenty years ago” was hardly saying we were not taxed enough .

If we had raised the fuel tax twenty years ago just maybe some of the problems we face now would have been resolved earlier, like more fuel efficient cars/trucks.

Some of the tax could have been earmarked for research, rather than into the pockets of OPEC/oil companies.

A fully loaded harley with passenger gets a minimum of 30. The average of all two wheeled motorized vehicles is over 60.

What is there more to tell you.

Nope, just the same people making this claim, and others on the other side who claim the opposite. Both have evidence. I tend to believe the latter though.

And what is "significant" think it may amount to that 10 cents the dems are looking for?

do you think 10 more cents would have that effect?

or would it simply put more of a strain on the whole economy with yet another tax. lame.

So increasing supply wont affect demand or prices but you argue that reducing demand would increase supply and lower prices?

Actually taxes go to a general fund. Then moneys are allocated to different needs as the politicians see fit mostly to thier personal gain.
