Pickens didn't go far enough in his campaign. He wants to get off foreign oil. That's not enough. We need to get off oil period. Friedman in his new piece compares oil to crack cocaine. The problem is not the rise in price of one's addiction. It is one's addiction. |
Ok, tomorrow, do not use or buy anything that has to do with oil. Don't use a car, or even have a friend car-pool(your extra weight and time it takes to pick you up will cause the car to go slower at the same RPM, causing more oil to be used.) Lets see how long you last before you realize the technology to COMPLETELY be free of oil does not exist yet.
Pickens is smart enough to know that it just isn't practical to think we will be completely free of oil in ten years. Unless you got proof that in 10 years we WILL be off oil and our entire society will run off...Embryos or something...don't complain. Getting off foriegn oil is a very good start.
