Current Mood: | Re: Washington DC July 12th - Revolution March I think that since even SCOTUS is highly divided as to what the constitution actually says . . . this R3volution (why the the 3 instead of an "E" is beyond me, but hey that's how they're spellling it on their site) is so much pipe dream.
"...a rally in support of restoring constitutional government as the founding fathers set forth. A R3VOLUTION that calls upon all Americans who believe in Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. .."
There is just no way to really determine what the "founding fathers" intended for sure, nor were they all of one mind. But even more importantly, the constitution interpretation should reflect the wisdom and knowledges learned over the past few centuries and not really be 100% based on the wisdom and knowledge of those days. Honestly, even if Ben Franklin or John Adams or even George Washington were magically re-incarnated as themselves tomorrow, would you really want them to make decisions for today's issues? I wouldn't. |

The issue is that there is much curruption in the Republican party and there is way too much politics when it comes to what the Federal government was intended to do. Quote:

| I agree with the idea that the Repubs have gone to far in many ways, and I agree that the balance and intent of the constitution needs attention; but I don't agree with attempting to base those decisions on the hypothesized intent of the forefathers, but rather should be based on the realities of what a democracy should be in today's light. |

We do not. We are a "republic". We elect leaders to "represent" us. Those elected officials are losing touch with their base and losing touch with the intent of their position.
The constitution says what we *CAN* do. It does not say what we cannot. The rules that say what we can do are being ignored. The rules that say what a president or congress cannot do are equally being ignored.
The only way to change the rules is to utilize the power of amendments. Unfortunately, the President and many other officials are taking for granted that we are not paying attention.
Some of us are. |

Vauge - I'm going to be there - I'm not officially back on this board however as your forum is the one and only that felt the need to ban me in all my years of participating in cyberspace (a so called libertarian moderator banning me of all things ) |
