Current Mood: | Liberal "Patriots" I keep running across liberals who keep claiming they're "patriots", but their actions and words tell a different story.
We have schools and even entire cities in our country who refuse to allow the military to engage in dialogue, recruitment practices, filming commercials, and now, from departing aircraft upon returning from Iraq. http://michellemalkin.com/2007/09/30...ps-in-oakland/ http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,298039,00.html
How can liberals call themselves patriots? Their actions speak louder than words, and their words are deplorable.

Current Mood: | Re: Liberal "Patriots" Well I will just say this. Being a patriot is not constrained to one particular view point. If a liberal truly believes that what they are doing is for the best interest of the nation, out of a desire to improve the nation...then they are a patriot. Michael Moore probably believes he is a patriot in some way, same with Jane Fonda or Tim Robbins.
You essentially have a couple of major camps that are pushing what they believe is best for our nation. There are good arguments coming out of both camps.
Regardless of how we feel about a persons political stance, if they are doing what they do out of a genuine love of their country and truly believe it is for the best...then they are a patriot. It matters not that I disagree with them. All this means is that we both have different ideas about what is best for our nation.
I am sure I am going to get called down on this...but it's just my take on it.

You provided a great, non-partisan rebuttal that cannot be refuted. Others will not, and we'll have a lively crossfire with all the usual players.

Can you be a patriot and not support American liberals? | Im personally against the Iraq war but I do realize that if we leave the domino effect with start and stuff will just get a hell of alot worse. War with Iran is slowly going to become the only option to deal with Ahmendinijad. But unlike the OP Im not going to call for people that are against the war to be locked away in Gitmo.

They don't understand that patriotism isn't about slapping a metallic yellow ribbon on their car.

4) Rush Limbaugh - Used a boil on his a$$ to escape being drafted.
5) Ted Nugent - Pi$$ed and craped all over himself for days, then shot up a dime bad of meth the day of his physical for the draft (Only time he ever used drugs). Flunked his physical quickly.

10) Bill O'Reilly - Same thing.
And these are just a few of the cowards who either sent others to die in Iraq, or were cheerleaders for the war. I wonder who might have died in their place in Nam.
