Much like the comments of Rush Limbaugh in reguards to Donovan McNabb and reporters wanting a black quarterback to succeed, the media WANTS Obama to succeed.

He is an intellectually smart individual with more than capable skills. Just because you can't see it like the rest of the delusional right doesn't make it so. "White guilt factor" my ass. Where do you people get this crap?

There was very little in the way of critical reporting on Obama, critical questions of Obamas past were ridiculed, it was hinted that dislike of the man was racist, and the media "got tingles" up their legs watching Obama. Late night comedians shy away from making fun of him. SNL did very little in the way of poking fun at him... McCain was blasted for choosing Sarah Palin, who in turn has been mocked beyond the norm for a politician. Yet... Joe Biden is on the whole, ignored? Seriously, of all the people to choose for Veep on the Left, Biden has to be low on most folks list, yet Obama wasn't hammered for his poor choice.

So, what qualifies a person for president is that they get made fun of on a comedy show? Comedians didn't go after him because there was little to make fun of.... he's dynamic, intelligent, educated, and has a great vision for our country. McCain chose a dork. She's an idiot. I know, you want to say "that's what the media said... blah blah blah." Um, no, most of the country came to the same conclusion just by listening to her speak. Biden has done a lot for our country and is a good public servant. Yes, he puts his foot in his mouth occasionally, but he has a great record.
The boogeyman that is the great biased media is a joke. This "ghost" was created by Nixon because they actually reported on his crap and he was paranoid about having "commies" around every corner. Sounds like the paranoia of the current right.

This brings us to the present. Six months into the Obama Presidency, and where are we? The media is still in love with Obama, his healthcare takeover is to get it's own Network news special courtesy of ABC! But what about the people? Current polling is showing a erosion of his support. As they say, the proof is in the pudding. Obama is still well liked "personally" but his ideas are ringing hollow, his performance, failing in the eyes of America.
|
Again, you really need to pay attention to a news source other than Rush and Hannity. I think the right is made up of sore losers and don't like that Obama is giving the media nothing to get all hot and bothered about. What do you want them to say? Please, tell us what news they are to report that would make you so thrilled and enamored with them? To quote Jon Stewart: "When you lose, it's supposed to feel like a **** taco." Get over it and get with it.
How is a 60% approval rating bad? huh? Just curious.

This divergence in "liked" and "performance" is where Affirmative Action comes in. Obama was elected based on many things, but most of those are tied to his race, not his experience, not his plans. The "hope" he brought to the table. People want to like him, yet they are realizing his plans are not succeeding, his ideas... sound great in rhetoric, but fall short in implemintation. The takeover of GM has raised many eyebrows, and sown the seeds of doubt in his ability to make the right choice.
|
I would never vote for anyone based on their skin color. I didn't. I voted for him based on his policies and he is delivering as best he can as the right block, bitch, and scream in order to prevent what the American people want. Sorry, but the majority of us want a public option sir.
And with GM.... hindsight... hindsight.

I believe people will start to regret supporting him, however, McCain wasn't a very good choice. Obama has to fear the GOP getting their act together and fielding a strong candidate in 2012, and bringing a strong challenge to the DNC in 2010 you could see a fast run back to the right.
|
Ah, typical. You speak of fear. That is a grand right wing tactic, isn't it? Well, I certainly don't fear the Republicans getting back into power anytime soon. They screwed the pooch and every time they seem to open their mouths, something heinous or ridiculous comes out. No answers. No bipartisanship. No anything. The party of "NO".
I would like to see a strong voice from the right come up. One that isn't a neo-con. I believe our democracy works better when we have a number of voices in the room (hence Obama's great instinct to include amongst his advisers people that would disagree with him). But, the current wrangle of leaders on the right are just plain sad. So sad.

Obama's strengths are his weakness. He's a charasimatic speaker, an inspiring voice, but a weak leader and poor performer. If he cannot get his healthcare passed, if the GM debacle drags out, his cap and trade result in high COL for Americans and his financial meddeling results in high inflation that kills any recovery... he'll be a one term President, and people will be more leery the next time a black man tries to run for President. That's a shame, because in the end, race should never be a part of the decision making process, ideas, performance, and experience should be everything.
|
He's a great leader and has done great with the crap he was handed. "Poor performer?" How do you come to that conclusion?
What does all the inflation, etc, have to do with a "black man" doing anything? It is apparent that all you want to spread is bigotry. It undermines any argument you may have put forward. Yes, it's a shame, but you still think it's part of the issue in this regard. I read all his policy papers two years before the election and I'm still on board. It had NOTHING to do with his color. If he were a neo-con, I would never have voted for him... ever.
