I understand that much.
I don't understand why you think people will forget about a bill that will be talked about on the news, and in papers, every single day of the "care-free" weekend.

This is people's money we're talking about! I don't see them forgetting.

But people are greedy.
We should be more worried about the News' interpretation of the Stimulus package, as most sane people will not read the entire thing and decide for themselves.

I've said numerous times that this bill is the Democrats' Patriot Act.

I thought this was the kind of bullsh*t the Democrats were elected to stop.

And it was Princess Nancy herself who declared that she'd run "the most ethical Congress in history."

What 48-hour rule?

So far all I've seen is nonsense from rightwing attack sites.

Read the articles posted here. Democratic leaders said that the information would be given out 48 hours before a vote on the bill. It was posted last night at 2300 as .pdf documents so they couldn't be text searched on computers. A huge problem for the public and any legislator looking for specific parts of the bill. They will be voting on it today. I believe they started the process about an hour and a half ago.

Why did they do it that? Why bother putting every page of a thousand+ page bill in a scanner? Surely it would have been much easier just to import it on to a web page? The only idea I can come up with is that they don't want people to actually read what's in the bill until after it is passed.

It's already out on the web.

And it's the same stuff they've all been debating for three months.

The same stuffs, but not the specifics. The house and senate bill were different, so its wanting to know what made it into this final compromise version between the two portions of the legislature.
