    hating the other side

Ok...we have all heard the Right calling the Left Libtards, Commies and unAmerican Muslim sympathizers for years. Now we have the Left rightfully calling the Right out as partisan hacks who would hand the country to Putin if it meant keeping their Right Wing fantasies alive.

Do you hate the other side?

    Why?

I'll start. Even before this Trump fiasco, I developed a strong hate for the Religious Right. I'd probably be a Republican (at least up until Trump showed up) if not for them. Their constant insistence on pushing their religious values on the rest of us has been turning me off for about 20 years, and it's only getting worse. I hate those bastards.

I don't think in terms of sides. I think in terms of viewpoints. If I see someone posting a lot about a certain topic that they like I assume that they like that topic. Isn't that horrible???

That being said. If you belong to any of the following groups, you will automatically be on my radar as a blind believer in your cause and are open to any ridicule I deem appropriate: Trumpkins, Paulbots, Libertarians, Conspiracy Theorists, Privacy Activists, Global Warming Eco Freaks, People who act like Vegan is a religion, The Tea Party, Constitutionalists, Atheism Crusaders, gun nuts, political grammar nazis (who cares about the difference between big L and little l.) and people who rally against old laws that are already implemented like Roe V Wade, Citizens United, and the legality of the Supreme Court.
There's no greater irony than a Trump supporter pointing out hypocrisy; Unless it's Trump himself.

No. I don't hate the Right. In my eyes, there's really no reason to hate the other side of the political aisle because of their political opinions/views. I may dislike what they have to say, but I don't 'hate' them.

I still am opposed to many conservative ideals (especially from the religious right), but at the same time I am also opposed to some of the views that some people on the Left hold.

Yeah, welcome to my world. I haven't been able to get on board with the Left at all. The Right, sans the religious crap, sort have the same ideals that I hold: capitalism, competition, family values (not the religious version), defense, limited central government, etc. But, there is no way I can support their side right now because the crazy has taken over.

I see a lot of hate when I scan the various social media sites. The Right has always hated the Left, and lately the Left is beginning to send some of that right back. I can see the day, in the not too far distant future, when we will no longer be able to set aside our differences and enjoy a holiday meal without swinging at each other. The two sides do not get along at all anymore.

That is a pretty long list.

You need get a life... do you ever think about doing something worthwhile besides sitting here wasting your life away?? Hate? I hate most, many, actions, "values" ideas of the left, but don't hate the person. I will admit I have no friends on the left,( many acquaintances) but no left friends. Is that hateful? In full disclosure I have no friends on the left as I have a 100% record of conversion of them to the conservative side of things. Easy to do as the folly of the left is so easy to expose with the success of one's own life and what ideas work. Good luck with your " hate" as you illustrate very clearly what much of what the left is.....

The fundamental roots of the issue you are drawing attention to:

The right calls the left wrong.
The left calls the right evil.

If the left would call the right wrong, things would be even and much better, but they don't. That's the problem.

    Re: hating the other side

    I don't hate anyone.

I have liberal / progressive friends, and I find we pretty much agree on the problems. What we tend not to agree on are the solutions.
To me the Left tends to play victim, panders to weakness instead of encouraging strength and the idea of the rugged individual, and they would scrap our freedoms for the sake of gaining power to implement their policies.
    These are evils to me.
I am all for ensuring equal opportunities. But opportunities to excel and live a free life.

I think the evil in both parties is not recognizing that consolidation of power will lead to bad things. In the market or in the political arena.

It's been on my profile ever since I joined. I of course updated it since then, by adding gun nuts and Trumpkins. Apparently that makes me a flaming liberal now, so I find it funny when people accuse me of being for such and such side when they can all go to my profile and see where I stand and where I've always stood. I just can't think in terms of political sides anymore and I cringe when journalists talk about it like that.
