To me, the only way this Comey thing makes sense is if in fact he launched his 2024 Presidential Campaign on Friday by throwing out his non-partisan credentials and potentially handing Trump the win. It would go a long way for the hedge fund exec, turned lawyer, turned Director, to strengthen up the political chops on his resume, and if that wasn't good enough, a potential promotion within a Trump cabinet, say Secretary of Sate, could fuel his entrance into that next partisan battle eight years from now.

It's known that Comey doesn't like partisan politics, but with Trump we are getting a new brand of politics and that may be unfortunately be more to his liking. Comey could essentially ride the Trump wave and unite the Republican Party all at once. It certainly is an interesting way to enter the race.

No matter what comes of this, Comey is screwed for president. All his opponent has to bring up is the narration that he let Hillary go the first time and he'll be toast.

Its not as grand as all that. This is just a republican trying to help out his party as they were swirling dow the porcelain receptacle.

I don't think flip flopping will matter post-2016. Anyway, trump seems to like it and most party officials seem to be fine with what he is doing now.

Oh if Trump wins, I am sure there is a spot waiting for Comey in that Administration. If Clinton wins, he's out.

I highly doubt it, at this point because of the politics being played around all these "investigations" it damn near makes James Comey unelectable.

I think he did it because he felt he had no choice. NOT announce? He's screwed. Announce? He's screwed. Unless they find something. And THEN he's everybody's hero.

And still no Hillary Clinton press conference. She sends out her minions and hides behind the SS.

Of course if Clinton wins he's out, she doesn't want to be investigated, though I doubt Comey is doing this to start up a Presidential run for himself, that's just reckless speculation.

I think he's out either way. Even though the FBI director is appointed for a ten year term, he can be asked to resign and if he refuses, can be impeached for his handling of the Clinton investigation. Even if he was given his marching orders from DoJ, he is still a lawyer and took a oath to the constitution, not Obama.

He's got more baggage than Jet Blue.

LOL like there will be elections in 2024... if Trump wins, then this will be the last election.

He is screwed either way, yes. And yes, now that he did make a choice, and not doing something and doing something are both choices, he DID make the choice to announce.

Why would he do that unless he had a pretty good idea that what information he does hold is pretty damning? Even with this wishy-washy letter declarative of no substance Hillary has a chance of winning... but he knows later she will have to face up to what the facts are and it will put this country, from the beginning of her presidency, through a depressing Watergatesque slow motion downward spiral as Clinton will focus all her energy and power on not being impeached and not going to jail instead of the business of the country...

Which, after 8 years of neglect and letting the ideological termites eat away at the good wood unhindered, is sorely in need of focused attention.

reckless feats call for reckless speculation.

What I think is telling is that whose ever computer it is obstructed by requiring a warrant. If there was nothing consequence, why not clear the air as fast as possible. That may even be the reasoning behind making it public.

I mean, Hillary is running for President while under federal investigation, that's rather reckless too.

But whatever, this election cycle is just a partisan **** show.

A press conference for what? There is nothing to comment on at this point.

A press conference for ANYTHING. She hasn't had a press conference in over 250 days. What presidential candidate does that?

Because she knows anything she says will be ripped apart by partisan hacks on the right. Why SHOULD she hold a press conference? What could she say that YOU would find acceptable?

One that realizes that the denial is usually worse than the accusation. It's politics 101. Accuse your opponent of anything bad, even if untrue, just to force them to deny it.

To put it in a Trump supporter's terms, Hillary's press conferences are like Trumps tax returns.

BTW, when was Trump's last press conference that wasn't for a hotel of his?

Yes, and we know who the couple is that own that computer... the ones who just may end up being the couple wearing the matching cement shoes when they are pulled out of the Potomac or the Hudson Rivers based on past history.

Oh, you mean like partisan hacks on the left rip Trump?

In the interest of accuracy, she held a press conference in September. Made her opening statement, took five questions and disappeared.

I seriously doubt Comey's trying to make a bid for the Presidency.

I honestly can't begin to speculate any ulterior motives that Comey may be driven by.

Why does no one find that odd?

Because she can only hurt herself by opening her mouth. She's not a good candidate, and she knows it, she just has the serendipity of running against Trump. Let him run his mouth, he's behind, she won't say a damned thing because it can only hurt her.
