Did Trump go too far threatening to jail Clinton?

I wonder how that will play out tomorrow. It seemed unprecedented for an American presidential candidate to threaten to imprison their political opponent. That was the only part of the debate I could not get my head around. I know Trump has appeal with authoritarian minded people but that was blatantly anti democratic. Say what you will about Clinton's absolutely poor judgement in how she managed her email and her complete lack of transparency for deleting them, but the FBI has made it clear she did nothing illegal. Here we have someone threatening to use his power, if elected, to go after a political rival. That is chilling.

too far for the BLIND who does not understand harm....and just right for the wise

this why having low IQ's voting are BLIND to CROOKS and will destroy a nation with their voting

He said he WILL investigate the INVESTIGATION... which he MUST

Is that as substantive a reply as you can come up with?

I already replied to you and you purposely don't understand simple English words, so that is on you.

He didn't say he would SEND her to jail, he said she would be in jail.

Where did you get that he would have anything to do with it?

Don't you get that if there was anybody else in charge other than Obama and his lackeys, she would have been honestly investigated and possibly, that is a big word for you, taken in front of a Grand Jury for prosecution?

Clinton said it was good that Donald Trump was not in the White House given his temperament, leading Trump to reply: "Because you would be in jail." That means Trump being in office means his intent to put Hillary in jail. News orgs, including Breitbart, took it to mean Trump would put Hillary in Jail. That's pre-judgement.

And you don't understand or believe in the simple words "innocent until proven guilty".

That is not what was said.

She said it was a good thing he was not in charge of law enforcement to which he replied what he did.

I knew you didn't know what you were talking about.

Please go back and watch what really happened.

That is what the investigation is for, at least one that was not decided on beforehand.

That there is no such thing as innocent until proven guilty and that setting bail is proof of it.

If you are innocent, why would the court make you deposit money or property to make sure you come back?

They are assuming you are guilty and won't come back to face the charges.

Common sense.

I'll go back, all right. I'll go back to a CNN June 4, 2016 article by Jeremy Diamond:

San Jose, California (CNN)Donald Trump on Thursday called for his likely Democratic rival Hillary Clinton to be imprisoned.

"I will say this, Hillary Clinton has got to go to jail," Trump told supporters here as he slammed Clinton's foreign policy speech earlier in the day in which Clinton called Trump dangerous and "temperamentally unfit" to be president.

"Folks, honestly, she's guilty as hell," Trump said of the Clinton's use of a private email server during her time as secretary of state.

Trump has previously accused Clinton of breaking federal law, but his comments on Thursday are his most direct call yet for Clinton to face jail time over her use of private email to conduct official State Department affairs.

The FBI is investigating Clinton's use of a private emails to determine whether anyone improperly handled classified information.

At a news conference earlier this week, Trump declined to say whether he believes Clinton's private email use amounted to a felony.

Trump also suggested Thursday that if Clinton is not indicted over her email use, he would direct his attorney general to investigate her.

BTW, even Trump spokespersons accepted the literal meaning of what Trump said most recently as being what Trump would do as President, not to do with your parsing-out "in charge of law enforcement". They just said he should not have been taken literally, it was just a quip.

The sad part is how many people are blindly ignoring the corruption of Hillary. Sad that people are so willfully ignorant. It is sad how much this reminds of the falling of the original Roman republic.

this always happens...... life has cycles.... the wise will now separate and the nation will fall.... the wise leaves the harm ... like they did with ancient greece.. to rome and then to spain and then to great britain and then to america.. next is america's 31 conservative states as the next great empire.. the wise of the world will flock there after they secede from the liberal ares who will soon die

The fact is, presumption of innocence simply means the burden of proof is on the prosecution and accuser. The defendant, though presumed innocent, may not even be allowed bail and may be held over (in jail) pending trial. You are misunderstanding the presumption of innocence, which goes back before the founding of America and has been upheld by the Constitution in court. You saying otherwise doesn't overturn any of that. You don't know more than the generals.

That is what the investigation is for, at least one that was not decided on beforehand.

Now you sound as though you are reversing yourself. You're the one that said there is no such thing as innocent until proven guilty and implied that Trump was not appointing an AG having predetermined guilt so as to put Hillary in jail.
