At least a dozen fairly well known Republicans have today abandoned shop on Trump as the Republican nominee saying they cannot vote for him. Several of them like Senators McCain & Ayotte and others are up for election in a few weeks.

If Trump wants to try and stop this rebellion he should announce that he is asking all his voters to NOT vote for any Republican who will not support him.

I wonder then how many candidates fighting a close race would dare to lose a good chunk of those Republican voters?

so double down on the failure. I hope your plan works

Sounds like you want him to do the best possible thing for the Democrats.

Personally he screwed up when he apologized. He should have never done that IMO. I think he should do as you suggest and ask his supporters to dump the rats. He should have done that a while ago IMO.

Its a page taken from nuclear war policy - mutually assured destruction. It worked pretty well in the Cold War and helped prevent our descent into madness.

That's an interesting proposition.

I think it might possibly lead to mutual self-annihilation, but who knows? Nothing else is working,

The excuse coming out of the Trump camp now is that these were all guys who had to work very hard to come around to supporting Trump and/or never really supported him anyway. So this very could well be the next phase of that. But how would Pence work? Pence denounced him too.

Yes, and they are terrified that Republicans will stay home, and that voters will not split tickets.

lol

Yes, it's always good for a Presidential candidate to give the down ticket the middle finger. That'll work.

News flash! The candidates in tight races now see Trump as a millstone around their necks. That's why so many are demanding he quit. He has absolutely no leverage.

I'm not sure about your suggestion, but yes I can say his indignant canned recorded apology, with antagonistic and arrogant expression, was not the way to go. Apologies need to be contrite mea culpa, or not at all.

To the bolded:

Well 'yes', and 'no'.

Trump is dragging them down, but they still need his share of the electorate!

Their kinda' screwed here, in that they've got to distance themselves from Trump, but not alienate the votes that need to be cast by his supporters. This is *not* an easy task!

and I would tell DT go blow it out his ear. The reason, one I don't vote party line. I vote for who I believe is best for the job. The job of the President is not the same as a Senator or Representative.

I for one would not be swayed if DT asked, " all his voters to NOT vote for any Republican who will not support him. "

I understand and respect that. But the millions who follow him would probably listen to his advice if they felt it may help him.

Your most likely correct. Hopefully the more astute republican voter will see DT is not a good choice for America. Neither is Hilary, but at least she is a more known bad choice. If she gets in, hopefully Congress can keep her in check.

Four more years of divided government going nowhere. But it least its not the complete and total disaster Trump could well be,
