Bullets aren't flying, at least not yet. But, we definitely have an all out war in the GOP. I imagine this will not end well.

GOP's long-simmering civil war breaks into the open - CNNPolitics.com

...behind the scenes, an all-out war between the party establishment and conservative base is breaking out -- in the halls of Congress, the fight for control of the Senate and in battleground states -- all threatening the GOP's chances of winning this fall.

Conservative insurgents in key Senate races are throwing their full-fledged support behind Donald Trump, hoping to foment anger at incumbent Republicans worried that embracing the controversial nominee too tightly could alienate swing voters.

Meanwhile in Kansas, it just got real.

House Freedom Caucus Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, issued a tough statement Wednesday morning, slamming his own leadership, saying while they should be uniting to run against the Clinton, "the House Republican leadership's opposition to Tim Huelskamp significantly damaged the ability of House Republicans to do that."

GOP leaders deny working to defeat one of their own, but Huelksamp said they didn't help him.
"He gave me no help pretty clearly," Huelksamp said of Ryan.

What happened? I still remember the old Reagan edict, "Thou shall not speak ill of Republicans." lol....I guess they buried that back when they buried Ron-Ron.

Clinton News Network?

Seems that there was far more a civil war at the DNC, if you ask me.
It's not every nominee that gets booed so loud as to be disruptive at their own convention.
Bernie supporters asked to leave, replaced with bodies to fill the seats just for TV.
Bernie supporters protesting outside the venue.

Yeah, keep claiming GOP civil war. Yeah, that's the ticket. :lamo

Da Nile runs deep over there. Doesn't it?

Remember the fence around the DNC to keep Bernie supporters out. You know, the party against fences to keep people out. Remember how they were arresting people for climbing the fence. Remember how Bernie supporters were booing and chanting Hillary for prison. Yeah, I remember that.

Anyway, both parties will abandon and work against the members of their party they don't like. The Democrats pretty much proved they do this with the leaked e-mails against Bernie, so this whole thread is a bit hypocritical.

There are two main conservative camps, social and fiscal, with some overlap which is often called the republicant base. It is impossible to win a republicant POTUS primary without that base and impossible to win the general with the same platform used in the primary. The demorats are much better at holding their noses and just voting not republicant in the general when their candidate "moves to the middle" (drops much of what the demorat base wanted). See the Bern now smolder and simply encourage (unprincipled?) party unity while many republicant also rans do otherwise.

Since Trump is a lifelong liberal democrat, I don't see how this breaks that edict

It, the division within the party, runs a lot deeper than just Trump.

Bernie is not a Democrat. Why do you people fail to understand this basic fact?

He ran under your party label and for your parties nomination.

Sorry, but he was a democrat.

The Republicans have litmus tests: God, abortion, taxes, guns, etc. The Dems are far more flexible. Dems have plenty of overlap; the GOP calls those who overlap RINO, and then purges them from the party whenever possible. Kicking out Boehner is a perfect example of that.

Singularity point of argument self-capitulation underlined and emboldened.

Really? So would democrats accept someone like myself in their party? You know, since they have no litmus tests and all. If so, I think I might have just figured out a way to destroy the democratic party.

The question is how Trump got past the litmus test since he fails when it comes to every question.

Hateful rhetoric apparently Trumps all.

For some that seems to be the obvious truth. I have yet to see even one of his Fans even attempt to address Trumps long Liberal past, it is as if they believe if they ignore it then it never happened.

The story behind Tim Huelskamp shows bare the division inside the party. Huelskamp a conservative that fought against cronyism, illegal immigration was disliked by the Chamber of Commerce and establishment type Republicans. So the House backed a wealthy no name candidate to challenge Huelskamp. The Chamber of Commerce poured millions into his opponent's coffers. They trashed Huelskamp with deceitful ads. Huelskamp did not have the funds to fight back.

Huelskamp isn't the only Constitutionalist conservative the Chamber of Commerce along with the House leadership have targeted this primary. They did the same thing to Cane in Georgia and are doing the same to Bongino in Florida. They don't want Constitutionalist Conservatives in the party.

Personally, I think it is time for Conservatives to split from the GOP instead of fighting with the establishment. Spend their energy building their new party offering a message of hope and solutions. Let Republicans and Democrats remain the uni-party with one side thinking they can do the same thing only better than the other.

More media manipulation dog whistles from the tanking CNN. Civil War? Nice equivocation and visuals from the Hillary for Prez division.

It's a VERY good thing the Republican Party is vigorously debating issues and direction. Voters are disgusted with the status quo, and those in the GOP clinging to it are going to have a rough time. Too bad for them.

In the end, the two major candidates represent what the voters of each party stand for.

Supercharged nuclear reactor charged Status Quo, or anything but Status Quo.

The MSM's abject fear of the latter is obvious with the history making effort to set new levels of yellow journalism.

They probably would not vote for you, but your vote for them would be more than welcome, I am sure.

We have Democrats in Congress who are ultra religious and those who are atheists; some are pro gun, others are banners; lots of them are anti-tax; some are pro-life and also pro-choice; a few still frown on SSM but stand by the SCOTUS ruling on it. There are D feminists and D traditionalists, etc. I don't see that level of diversity in the GOP, not even close.

lol...I read FreeRepublic posts all the time. The plan there seems to be to purge the "establishment" from the party. Root them out, one by one, I guess.

I wonder if anyone over there has thought through just what that will leave them with. A party of hateful racists with no clue on how to win a general election?

So assuming I was voted in office the democrats would welcome me in their party? I doubt that. In fact, I would probably be shunned and when my reelection came up they would probably work against me.

I'm good with more moderates moving into the D. The current D is still too liberal for me. So, if more moderate R's join, it will only serve to move the D more toward the Center-Right. That's a winning position, if you ask me.
