Romney Considering Libertarian Endorsement

I have never done pot in my life. What will I get if you're allowed in the libertarian party? Nothing. It will just be another party to represent you while I once again have no one to represent me.

Who represents you? No Libertarians win elections so they have no representation. Zero.

The libertarian party represents me.

How do they represent you? They have no representatives! In my state I have a Democratic mayor, a Republican Governor, a Democratic Congressman, and two Republican Senators, not to mention some state representatives, none of which are Libertarian. So, I ask you again, how does the Libertarian party represent you?

It's not about growing membership, but about keeping the party uncorrupted.

Preventing corruption in politics is not possible. It never has been. Ever.

I believe Henrin was referring to a different definition of corruption.

Oh, whatever. He's no libertarian.

I'm not a libertarian, either, but I'm sure as Hell not voting for Sen. Clinton or Mr. Trump. So, who do we have that Americans can vote for? For me it has to be Gov. Johnson.

Republicans have to stop thinking they are welcome in the libertarian party. The libertarian party is not an alternative for you and we don't want you beliefs corrupting the libertarian party. Go away.

That's funny. It's a private club of losers and you can't come in. Well, fool, I don't want to come in but I'll be voting for Gov. Johnson. The libertarians in the state I last lived in had two planks in their platform: All weapons for individuals including nerve gas and all drugs will be legal.

I'd respect Johnson a lot more if he were courting Republicans and Democrats since there are dissatisfied individuals in both camps. However from what I've seen he's putting a lot of effort into courting Republicans only and that makes me think he's not really serious about doing all he can do and is instead focused on helping Hillary.

But the dissatisfied Democrats mostly want Sen. Sanders. They don't want a free country governed by the Constitution. They certainly don't want less government or less spending.

There are too many loose connections in your brain to even debate that post.
I take your none answer to mean that you agree that democrats would not be stupid enough to vote for a phony liberal while republicans are stupid enough to vote for a phony conservative.

As someone who has voted LP in the past and hates Romney, this possible endorsement really doesn't bother me (also heard Bush may support Johnson?) It is rather comical, tbh, thinking back to all their anti-libertarian actions and statements.

But I've been saying since 2005 that right-libertarianism is the future of the Republican Party. Young conservatives don't give a s*** who smokes pot or who marries who. The question is: will the GOP survive long enough to make that transformation?

Federalist > Whig > Free Soil > Republican > ?

The center-right in the US always finds expression. This will continue regardless of whether the Republican party continues. The Democrats avoid this cycle of death and rebirth by periodically throwing their principles overboard and adopting new ones.
