Bernie - he polls stronger against Trump, and I believe he's the stronger candidate. I also think he would kick Trump's butt in national debates, plus he has little baggage and can only really be attacked on the merit of his ideas, and those ideas seem to reasonably resonate to a substantial slice of the electorate (I believe in excess of over half - and that's good for the win).

There is no way that HRC will pass up her opportunity to become historic.

The problem appears to be "no precedent" for actually enforcing the law.

Said Comey: "Any reasonable person should have known that an unclassified system was no place for that kind of information."

While Comey said the FBI had found evidence of "potential violations" of federal law, which allows prosecutions involving negligence, he concluded that "our judgment is that no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case" and that "no charges are appropriate" because of the lack of precedent for prosecutions of such relatively minor violations.

In other words, negligence in handling classified material is illegal, and HRC was found to be plenty (extremely?) negligent, but Comey has no desire to be the first to actually recommend enforcing the law as written - which Lynch (after meeting with iill Clinton) said was the only way it would be prosecuted. This amounts to prosector (executive?) nullification of the law.

A simple case of mind over matter - if the administration doesn't mind then the law doesn't matter.

Trump can run a variation of CARELESS CLINTON a thousand times a week between now and November and ask over and over and over again if the nations most private secrets can be trusted to someone so proven to be careless.

I think that could be devastatng and win the election for Trump if he has the discipline to stay on that message above all else.
 
he is saying the minor violations have occurred before, but they have never been prosecuted under similar circumstances. Much different than the minor violations have never happened before.

The republicans practically gift-wrapped and handed the presidency to Clinton by nominating Trump. She has no reason to step down.

Did Bush resign because of his extreme carelessness when pursuing the invasion of Iraq? Carelessness that cost 1000's of lives and trillions of dollars? What did Hillary's carelessness cost us? I haven't seen a thing but the costs of this investigation. Was she just lucky or is this just a case of overkill?

Yet not one shred of evidence indicates that any damage was done by this "carelessness". I think the electorate will be smarter than you think and realize the the letter of the law does not always fit the intent. If the intent was to safeguard our most important secrets than Hillary did not violate that. I wonder what you think of Snowden?

the damage is undermining the faith in Clinton making Trump a possibility in November. And that scares the living hell out of me.

Pres Obama just wrapped up his speech inNC for Clinton and it was his usual home run out of the park. He will need to do this a whole lot more in September and October.

Clinton being pressured to exit the race over this, after having a solid win, would cause greater disruption to the Party's chances in November.
