Trump Hotels Suffering

Sounds like you are an import who has not figured things out yet. The American dream is getting ahead on smarts and hard work, because America lets us when no other place does to the same degree, and Trump is a big winner in achieving that.

Due respect.

Getting ahead is easy when Dad gives you millions....

Manhattan real estate is never easy, especially when you are from Queens. He was always an outsider because of that, no matter how much he sucked up, no matter how many great properties he developed and/or operated in Manhattan...upgrading Manhattan with his Trump Quality. He has also had ongoing capital problems because of that. I dare say that Trump is almost bitter about how not easy it has been.

You might want to go back to school on this subject cause it seems you have missed some important points.

Seriously.

He had millions...he had connections. Makes it a hell of a lot easier when you have that.

Are you a Trump supporter?

In what way is that question relevant? My support, or lack thereof, has no bearing on the honesty, or lack thereof, of the OP.

Do you believe that Trump's competition somehow lacked those advantages? One does not compare pro athletes or top entertainers to the common man but to the other pro athletes or top entertainers that they directly compete with.

I'm going to guess you don't hold the Kennedys to that same standard...

No NO NO, you are thinking and reasoning too much. You spent over 3 minutes on the project, I can tell.

Yep, I cheated and played the common sense card. ;)

I dont think that the coastal elite Trump haters even know what that is.

Maybe they have some memories from childhood.....

Seriously.

Since it is a red herring you threw into the conversation for no reason whatsoever.....

Anyone that has a big pile of money from daddy isn't starting at the same place that a true rags to riches person is.

Its not a zero sum game. If you have many millions in your pocket when you start, its a lot easier to end up X many millions. Its math...

ITV’s Good Morning Britain asked the man who has widened the world’s understanding of time, space, stars, galaxies and black holes if he could explain the popular appeal of the billionaire tycoon.

Hawking, perhaps the world’s most famous living scientist and the author of one of the world’s best-selling books, replied: “I can’t. He’s a demagogue who seems to appeal to the lowest common denominator.”

Pathetic? Like basing a political argument on a decline in bookings on a third party software system (one out dozens of such services)

Pathetic indeed. If Trump tackled a nun crossing the street The apologists would blame the nun.

I never denied that having an advantage, whether financial, mental or physical, made it easier to succeed. My point was that you still must beat out others with similar advantages to end up (remain?) on top. A fool and their money are easily separated. ;)

It does have a bearing on whether you view my statements as honest. It is called confirmation bias.

The same applies to the "fear mongering" from my AGW threads.

Bookings at Trump Hotels Plummet

So far, it appears that Trump's campaign of bullying, lying, racism, sexism, and xenophobia has really hurt the bottom line. Whether this type of damage applies on a more permanent basis will largely depend upon whether Trump wins in November. Here's to hoping that the damage is permanent.

Damage like this is usually short lived but perfectly reasonable. In 2016, consumers like punishing those who enter the political discourse with opinions they don't appreciate or share. It's no different than the Dixie Chicks or a chicken joint being boycotted for stands they take away from the reason they exist.

Just as an aside, this could be why successful people in business shy away from entering politics. Why subject your business interests to the whims of social media hissy fits.

Well put there, Captain Obvious. The same can be said for having any other inherited advantage. I would be hard pressed to ever become a professional athlete or entertainer - one must play the hand that they are dealt. Trump's older brother drank himself to death with that same head start in lilfe.

How about the fact that economists have analyzed his inheritance/loans and noted that he would have ended up better if he had just left the money in an index fund.

Trump isn't the "Trust Fund Baby" type. For all your talk form liberals about wealth and inheritences etc sitting on money and not "trickling it down", you'd think they'd be happy that he didn't do that and invested it back into trying to do something that helped both the poor and middle class.

Toronto’s Trump Tower for sale
‘There are no vultures flying around,’ says a developer’s lawyer, denying a loan default and confirming interest from a buyer.

"Toronto realtor David Fleming said a new owner would be wise to remove the name from the building at Bay and Adelaide Sts. as soon as possible and rebrand it.

“Donald Trump and United States politics aside, the name Trump Tower in Toronto is synonymous with failure,” he said. “We’ve been watching this debacle for the last half-decade.”"
