Donald Trump Won’t Rule Out Using Nuclear Weapons in Europe

“Donald Trump refused to rule out using nuclear weapons in Europe during a town hall in Wisconsin on Wednesday. The Republican presidential front-runner was asked about his recent contradictory statements about nuclear proliferation—in which he said he was concerned about the spread of nukes while also suggesting that more countries, including Japan, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia, should be allowed to acquire them.

MSNBC's Chris Matthews, the host of the town hall, tried to pin Trump down on what circumstances might compel President Trump to deploy the United States' nuclear arsenal.

"Look, nuclear should be off the table, but would there a time when it could be used? Possibly," Trump said………………

And for those who will never bother to read but dismiss it out of hand because it came from a liberal rag…….and we all know those liberal lie 110% of the time and can never be trusted…………

Trump Splits From U.S. Nuclear Policy - WSJ

In 1964 Barry Goldwater’s run for the presidency was dead in the water before it began because of the nuclear issue…………….He scared the hell out of folks because folks worried he might use the bomb…………..

Since then it was an issue both party’s never wanted to speak of……………….so for some 50+years the issue was never brought up or spoken of during election periods……

In the great wisdom of Donald Trump’s casual talk of the use of the A-bomb in Europe……. Middle East………..etc.

IMHO signed up to lose the 2016 election for sure……….

Have we still got nuclear weapons? Yes.

Do the Russians still have nuclear weapons? Yes.

Are there any other nations who have nuclear weapons? Yes, currently Israel, The UK, France, China, India, Pakistan, North Korea, and sometime in the near future...Iran?

Currently we are the only nation who has actually used them in war. Twice.

Why is it a problem to reinforce the mere possibility we can use them again? Especially when a number of the current powers who have such weapons are not necessarily our friends.

Again, much ado about nothing. :coffeepap:

Ya think?

Watch it metastases...........

If Belgium continues to Harbor and protect Isis then we may have to use Nuclear weapons on them.

I'm not a Trump fan but I think the media overplayed this.

Nobody ever liked talking about it, but using nuclear weapons in Europe was a strategic imperative of planning all through the Cold War. There was no need to remember that as long as Russia was not on the prowl. Putin changed that.

Europe will be reassured that a narcissist megalomaniac has our back! With his finger on the (first strike thanks to GWB!) button, he's ready to annihilate us to save us if Putin blinks.

I have only three words about Donald Trump:

CRASH and BURN

Let me ask you this.............

If Trump cannot stand up and best Chris Matthews.............how do you think he might fare with Putin..................Best speak of Trump in the past tense

You may have nuclear weapons used on you. One shipping container in New York harbour wouldn't be as hard to organize as planes crashing the World Trade towers.
By the way, were those terrorists in Belgium worse than the Boston Marathon duo? I remember the US being treated more sympathetically when you were attacked. Does that kind of softness make the US a target of nukes from the rest of the west?

WTF???

They may be ignoring the jihadist problem like most of the EU nations are out of political correctness, but they aren't "harboring and protecting" them.

The Tsarnaev bro's were not politely interviewed for only one hour days before the bombing (not even interrogated but interviewed). And if I remember rightly many people in the Middle East danced and chanted in the streets in celebration of the U.S. suffering the worst terrorist attack in history after 9-11. Now Europe wants to give those people safety and comfort in the Western Hemisphere by inviting unlimited numbers of "refugees".

As I understand it, Trump's point is that he refuses to tip his hand to any possible enemy or foe and announce that he is taking certain options off the table. And there is a case to be made for that approach.

I really do not think there is anything wrong with it and it is both separate and distinct from the debate around if nuclear weapons should ever be used in Europe or any other part of the globe.

Not well at all I fear... not well at all.

I think that is a plus in many Trump supporters' eyes. These people approve of his desire to deliberately target potentially innocent civilians (the relatives of terrorists) as a deterrent measure*, and they'd probably cheer if a million muslims got vaporized.

*Other than the Trump supporters who lie about what he said on that point.

Disagree. If he were CiC, nothing he said on the campaign trail would be binding in that regard, and everyone knows it. It doesn't matter if he say they're off the table or not.

.

I would not blame all of them for the desires you mention.............

I see it more so a problem with ignorance and thoughtlessness...........

I believe there's a 0.0000000000001% chance of Jesus coming back to Earth.

OMG! VELVETELVIS IS A JESUS FREAK!!!!

What idiot would take options off the table ahead of time? Oh, wait a minute, one is in office right now.

It only matters if one believes that the voters should be told the truth or simply lied to, led by the nose and told they are the prettiest girl in class just to get them into bed for the night.

How do you not understand that nukes can only be taken off the table by actually dismantling our nuclear arsenal in its entirety?

It's not like they'll refuse to give the CiC access to the launch codes just because he said something on the campaign trail.

Nuclear weapons should be illegal and punishable by international law. Nukes need to be outlawed everywhere immediately, because the longer they exist and remain in the hands of world governments, the greater the chance we see of terrorists getting their hands on some, and the greater the chance we face extinction.

So if Obama says he is taking the nuke option off the table then he is lying and would use them anyway? Well that's a good way to earn respect from our world peers. Why would he even say that if he didn't mean it? What would be the point?
