Trump Says He Will Delegate Supreme Court Appointments to The Heritage Foundation

“Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump, in an apparent bid to placate conservatives who fear that he could appoint an insufficiently ideological justice if elected president, plans to release a list of 5-10 names sometime in the next week. He says that, if given the opportunity to name a Supreme Court justice, he will limit his selection to the names on that list.

At a press conference on Monday, Trump also revealed an unusual detail about how he is determining which names should be on the list. “Heritage Foundation and others are working on” the list,” according to Trump………….”

I can't think of anyone worse to pick Justices than Heritage, maybe with the exception of ALEC!
 
So he plans to commit to judicial appointments up to 9 years from now in the next week? What if, god forbid, their resumes change slightly in that time?
 
Since he'll never be president this plan will never happen.

Why so? Maybe I just do not know enough about Heritage, but the danger evades me. Could you explain in short words?
 
Replace some of the sentiments and Trump's name with Obama, and all the Trump supporters would have a fit. I changed the following around a bit. From the article

In short:

The Heriitage Foundation is a very conservative think-tank lobbying organization, that often conflicts with my worldview.

They are hardcore free-market to the point of almost Libetarian, IMO. And they seem to act as an arm of big-business and monied power. They also are anti-government, and anti-social programs.

I'm an avowed capitalist, but as you know I support significant social tempering of the pure free-market process. I also support and expect reasonable government intervention & involvement with the citizenry. So Heritage and I disagree on a great deal.

While I believe you are reasonably supportive of sane social policy and support, you seem to be more conservative than I in economic principles and the implementation of capitalism. For this reason, you may find your more aligned with Heritage than I.

Yes, there would seem to be a disconnect with a Party controlling the government that will not even review the current seemingly well-qualified candidate to fill a an active current void on the Court, while expecting a *possible* Presidential nominee to have his picks for nearly the next decade all lined-up and ready & waiting to go!

I would imagine the constituency of the two groups overlaps more than a bit.

A presidential candidate stands before he nation and publicly admits he will give up a very important Constitutional power and duty to a private concern elected by nobody and responsible to nobody. Amazing!!!!

This man should never be allowed within ten miles of the White House in any capacity.

I don't believe anything he says, and think he's doing what he's done best all his life: The selling & marketing of one Mr. Trump!

He is first & foremost an impresario, the P.T. Barnum of our times. I do not believe anyone knows what he will do once in office. Of course, that may add fodder to your argument, but I don't believe he's as crazy as he talks; I think he's selling. Hardcore selling.

And when he sells, he says anything.

Well, to his credit, at least he didn't farm out this presidential responsibility to Mexico or China. That's progress I suppose.

I wonder if Trump knows that the President CANNOT delagate those duties.

This is just another reason why Das Fuhrer Trumpler cannot be allowed in office.
