Filling Scalia’s seat: Democrats think it’s a win-win for them

It spells losing the Senate for sure. And, there may even be a chance for the D to win back the House, especially if the GOP fractures because of the Donald.

I think if most folks vote straight ticket democrat (thanks to Donald) the dem's have a good shot at the house, senate and Oval office. And when Hillary nominates a tree hugger to the SC, they will have all the branches locked in.

Most folks I talk to, both republican and democrat, are willing to vote Kasich if given the opportunity. Hardly any of them want Clinton or Trump.

I wonder if they are even considering this reality when they play "Nein!"

That's me. If Kasich is the nominee, I'll vote for him and the GOP senator in our state. If they nominate Trump or Ted, I'll vote a straight D ticket.

Imagine if she picked Kasich as her VP.

Exactly. That's what I'm hearing from most folks I talk to also. But then again, generally speaking, the GOP voting block is not famous for their critical thought abilities. Time will tell I suppose.

Filling Scalia’s seat: Democrats think it’s a win-win for them

Some Democrats think that this is a fight they can’t lose.

Maybe, just maybe declaring an unwillingness to even vote on any candidate proposed by Obama, regardless of who that person might be, was not a good strategy.

I actually came to this conclusion myself. It is probably the best to take the current nominee and run with it. If not, there seems to be only two possible outcomes.

1. Hillary wins and she will basically have free reign to appoint as radical as a judge as she wants as there will be plenty of time to do it and the Republicans will have spent all their political capital.

2. Trump wins and he nominates his daughter, an Elvis impersonator from Las Vegas, Hello Kitty, or whatever random thing that falls out of his mouth at the time.

Tell me about it. I still see a few of the neanderthals attempting to argue that we are worse off today than we were when Bush left office.

I read recently (sorry no link) that McConnell said there will be no vote on this guy even if a D wins this year.

Crazy, imo. But, keep digging. Every single congressperson who think that obstinate insurgency is a proper political strategy needs to go, and that's true regardless of a side.

This simply is not who a representative democracy works...if it wants to work

Hello Kitty actually graduated top of her class from Tokyo Law.

Kasich is a damn fine republican candidate- which is why the republicans would never nominate him. He suffers from Huntsman-syndrome.
