If Trump is stopped - how will his supporters reply?

They absolutely apply to the Presidential election. Johnson got zapped by this last time around because he ran as a Republican in the primaries.

By zapped you mean he was on the ballot in 48 states plus DC?

"If Trump is stopped - how will his supporters reply?"

I suspect many won't vote at all and will lose faith in the election process. I learned long ago that voting doesn't fix anything. Many more will learn that, I'm afraid.

1-Trump would cash in on his popularity a new tv show.

You know, I've never really gotten the impression that Trump wants to be President so much as he wants to play it on TV. There's a possible compromise solution, there.

so the rnc will tell the voters who will be running for president,i can tell you now that i know what the RNC thanks about my vote the RNC can kiss my vote good by,mister hoghead neesd to leave the rnc and now.
run don run

after mr hogland's little speech that said my vote does not count, the republican party can kiss my vote good by.

Last night and this morning, all over the news outlets has been the topic of "can Trump be stopped". It seems that there are some in the GOP circles who believe that even if Trump comes up just a few votes short of the 1237 majority needed for first ballot nomination, that they can deny him the nomination and turn to someone else.

Okay - lets indulge that fantasy for purposes of discussion.

Let us say that Trump shows up in Cleveland and fails to win on the first ballot despite being only fifty votes shy. And let us say that on subsequent ballots, the GOP establishment pulls out every stop imaginable and actually stops Trump and the nomination goes to someone else.

Three not so simple questions:
1- what would Donald Trump do in response?
2- what would the Trump delegates and supporters of his do in response?
3- what would this bode for the GOP's chances in November?

According to Trump, "There will be riots". He maybe right and he may help make it happen too.

Trump used the word RIOTS. Carson used other words amounting to much the same thing and Cruz used the word REBELLION. Its much the same from all three.

If they steal the nomination from Trump then Trump himself should lead a protest movement.

no one will win but hillary, the rnc is brain dead, trump has over 7.5 million votes are you kidding me.we have a bird down here in south LOUISIANA,we call it the mile-or-more bird it reminds me of today's RNC,it sticks it's head in the mud and whistle's through it's posterior and you can here it for a mile or more.

run don run

How did the GOP respond after Obama beat it in 2008 and 2012?

If you keep doing what you've always done you'll keep getting what you've always got.

"Better days are coming." ~ But not for today's out of touch, running out of time,GOP.

It maybe too late to stop Trump............But some "big-wigs" are meeting today to discuss the possibility of forming a third party candidate for the 2016 election........

Splitting the vote to ensure a Trump loss

They willing to see HRC as President rather than Trump.............

Will it happen? I doubt it. But you can see how serious folks "in the know" fear a Trump as President.

The man is dangerous and needs to be stopped.............

This election cycle has proved that alot of **** needs changing in the way of Primary rules (delegate distribution for example) and Convention procedures.

Given the mood of the public? Might as well pass around cyanide to the GOP, as it would tear itself apart. Given the momentum, and the growing reality that support for Trump is crossing aisles, and is reflective of the rejection of Washington, D.C., such a move would result in chaos. Unlike the left, it seems those on the right have had enough of business as usual, and are willing to take a chance with someone they believe can shake up the establishment. Thwarting Trump would mean the establishment which will be bringing Hilary Clinton, has also manipulated who the Republican candidate will be. That would be a suicidal result.

Oh I think rather than the Dems being happy with business as usual, the Right wing has reached it's breaking point. The Reagan Southern Conservatives have run out of patience with the old guard GOP. I remember pre-Reagan GOP, nice quiet folk who thought deep thoughts about foreign policy, stock markets, and big business. Now the So-Cons not only want under the umbrella, they want to control who stands under it and what the mantra is recited in the huddle. I can imagine the ruffled feathers from the generational GOP and these new upstarts that think they own the Grand Old Party.

I have long thought the TPs need to start their own Party but many told me they don't want to lose an election. 'too much at stake'... or some crap. How ever it does appear that is what is going to happen and in tragic trailer trash reality TV style. Honey Boo-Boo meets Survivor.... :peace

And the most effective protest to take his retribution upon those who would cheat him is to run as a third party.

Except the So-Cons are not the ones most likely to support Trump.

Why do you say/think that? I'd say a majority of his supporters are social conservatives. They 'remember' a day when America was strong, morally straight, feared no one, and had good jobs, before equal opportunity took priority of opportunity away from the White Southerns, before this latest 'invasion' by yet another minority taking away more opportunities from the 'natives' (read as white guys)

I don't think all So-Cons are religious fundamentalists, many just want the 'normal' order restored... :peace

Social conservatives have been voting for Cruz and Carson. Polling data and primary wins have illustrated that pattern.

Oh yeah, the race baiting? Weak tea.

A majority of religious conservatives perhaps, but not all social conservatives are regular church goers- just identify with a conservative social ideal... (that it probably never existed isn't the issue)

race baiting??? No Sir, just identifying the race... :peace

Conservatives gather to plot against Donald Trump - CNNPolitics.com

“Prominent conservatives led by Erick Erickson on Thursday called for a unity ticket and a convention fight to stop Republican front-runner Donald Trump, a sign of the growing desperation in the party establishment to find an alternative to the billionaire businessman………….”

You may wish to blame all on the D.C. establishment……………
But it seems all stripes in/of the GOP……………moderates to extremists………. Are in agreement that this “most dangerous man” at all costs……….

In my experience, for the full breath of the GOP and conservative elements of those claiming to be Republicans have ever agreed with each other no matter what the base may think…….

How can one explain that?

You may want to get your moving to Canada bit figured out because Trump is going to win..

Yeah Trump is dangerous.. Dangerous to the elite..

My bet is that Trump has a bigger pride investment in being the Republican nominee than he does with pride issues regarding lawsuits. In addition, I think Trump is genuinely opposed to establishment politics and establishment politicians. The combination of these two could well lead to an independent run.

Then.... factor in that an independent issue would be relatively easy. He just needs his name on the ballot and to host a series of "events" in key states to have a big impact where people either vote for him in protest, or just stay home. What would really give the GOP establishment nightmares is that Trump not only does an indpendent run in protest, but forms a long term third party that sponsors candidates other than himself.

Trump will not run as a third party candidate unless he can with someone else's money

I am always confused by this remark............

Please tell me who these "elites" are and why they are held in such low regards?

They are quite secretive and I do not trust there agendas..

If Trump bolts for a third party, then Republicans can breathe a sigh of relief but lose the election.
