So, Why Exactly Did the GOP Originally Reject Kasich?

Mostly natural gas, and he didn't bring in all that much in taxes on it. Mostly it was the jobs and investments that came.

But still, even if he got a boost from some luck with natural resources, the fact he didn't piss it all away on stupid **** and actually fixed his state speaks volumes.
Major Discovery ? Chesapeake Energy Strikes Oil (and Gas) in Ohio?s Utica Shale | Marcellus Drilling News
This is big news in Ohio, where even Gov. John Kasich has already issued a glowing statement about the find.
Here is the relevant section from Chesapeake’s quarterly earnings report that has created a big splash in Ohio: Chesapeake believes that its industry-leading 1.25 million net leasehold acres in the Utica Shale play could be worth $15 – $20 billion in increased value to the company.

Right now, its worth approximately nothing, since it costs more to drill it than sell it.

Generally, blillions of potential dollars in the ground doesnt improve a state economy. You need to actually get people to extract it to make money

Ohio employs a massive 2,000 people in this industry. Not exactly a leading employer.

YOUR WELCOME !!!

Chesapeake is bankrupt and the CEO committed suicide. There is no oil boom in Ohio. There was a nat gas ponzi scheme. But, that fizzled.

I am no more a Berner than you are a Trumpeteer.

I still stand by my position that the Berners and Trumpeteers are similar birds, but of slightly different feathers.

Bern attracts the ignorant youths who think that the world is simple, and that everyone would be happy if government only raised the minimum wage to $20 an hour and paid for everyone's music lessons. Trump attracts people who drink gallons of Mountain Dew and never went to a dentist but blame Obama for their rotting teeth and gums.

Basically both groups refuse to take personal responsibility for their lot in life.

From Trump's perspective, this couldn't be further from the truth. I hope you're not lumping all Trump supporters in that 'MD gumming' category, 'cause I'm a Trump supporter and have most of my teeth.

Prejudice, much?

He doesn't care about truth. He's just selling. And, a lot of fools are buying.

Do you honestly believe what he is selling is in any way reasonable?

I still say Trump supporters are like Bernie supporters. They want some savior to change the country. Fact is, the country doesn't turn on a dime. And, most of the proposals made by both candidates would not work out very well even if if they could push them through.

Another 'very conservative' posters argument goes down in flames.

It's almost as if a 'very conservative' lean on a profile means 'usually wrong'.

The American people see the BLM movement as a racist movement, for example. America has lovers of racism on the left and the right.

Those who view BLM as a racist movement are wrong.

Racism: the belief that some races of people are better than others. 1 : a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race.

BLM advocates specifically FOR blacks, but NOT to state that blacks are better than anyone else, just that blacks have EQUAL rights and their lives matter just as much as white lives. It appears that when white cops kill black people that are unarmed, they know what to say, "he reached for something in his jacket", "my life was threatened", and the grand jury finds the cop was within his rights to take the life of the black man. How much time did the FBI give the white people who occupied the Bureau of Land Management office in Oregon, they negotiated with them for weeks and slowly coaxed them out of there, the way that situation should have been handled. One white man killed after he tried to run a police roadblock in dangerous fashion, and I saw his hands go inside his jacket twice, and he had vowed he would not be taken alive and that he was armed (which he was). Standing up for equal rights for your minority is not racist as long as you are not advocating for better treatment than other races, per the definition.

This was from 2011. My understanding after doing my own research was that initially, it was estimated that there was a lot of oil and some natural gas. Once the fracking started they found initial estimates were significantly off, as very little oil was actually found, but significantly more natural gas was found than was estimated. This was 6 months ago that I looked into it, but that's what I remember finding.

And the previous proposals for the economy have been successful?

Don't agree with your definition of racism. Racism is a favorable or unfavorable bias towards a group of people because of the color of their skin. Also don't agree that African-Americans in the BLM movement are demanding what everyone else gets because they've put out the same effort to get it.

That is you advocating for the socialist form of justice. This percentage of African-Americans should earn this wage because everyone else does or they should earn the same percentage of wages as the percentage of their American population. What about their skill? Why is that never mentioned? What about their willingness to be successful? Why is that never mentioned? The BLM movement is demanding success using arbitrary factors to success. Percentages and sameness.

As one of my signatures notes, free markets have destroyed American manufacturing (so have unions).

My definition is right out of the dictionary, see Merriam Webster. Look at all of the dictionaries.

Everyone to some degree or another holds some bias, probably they are more comfortable around people of their own race. That seems largely a human nature occurrence. That does NOT lead to any conclusion that your race is inherently better than another, or more entitled than another.

To have even a minor comfort factor with your race, and allegiance to others in your race when you believe you have been discriminated against and are fighting disparate treatment where you believe your race is being treated worse than another race just because of your outward physical characteristics, is not racism.

I've also heard the silly notion that African-Americans can never be racist because they aren't in power. They are in power in their own little part of the world, aren't they? How would you protray their bias towards freckled African-Americans or 'Uncle Tom' African-Americans? I've also made changes to my post you quoted.

It takes time to turn the ship. Trump and Bernie are bull****ting people into believing it can be turned on a dime. That's all.

Because he was always (and still is) obviously running for Vice President. A guy who stood with Democrats on banning guns and Obamacare isn't going to sell well in a GOP primary.

You're agreeing with calamity- the GOP committed a no true scotsman fallacy against their best candidate.

And why ? Because he worked with democrats for the sake of his constituents.

What an idiot !

What do you know about their bias regarding freckled blacks? It is within their race. Is it racism, of course not, it may be personal preference. Many white people are biased against obese people, but that does not make them racists. Racism is not the same as personal dislike or preference, especially if that dislike is within your own race, how can that be racist? It can't.

All BLM is demanding is to not have cops shoot unarmed people of color without taking the time to investigate what is going on, or to use deadly force when it is not really indicated. You know, like the shooting of Tamir Rice, age 12, in Cleveland a few years back, within 3 seconds of driving up on the scene. If the FBI had done that in Oregon to the federal land squatters, there would have been a horrible uproar. The BLM people are not asking for anything that white people don't get, just a bit of time to accurately assess the situation. You don't have to put out any effort to earn the return of sufficient basic respect from police to accurately assess the situation before they use deadly force.

It sounds like you are trying to co-mingle an economic argument with a basic human right argument, and they are not related.

I never said anything about economics, nor my theory on such. You are making things up, perhaps based on your discussions with others, that have nothing to do with me and what I think. You are just uninformed on this and wrong. I am an independent, and I don't have a "side". I am not advocating for socialism, I never mentioned it, and you don't know what you are talking about projecting beliefs you got from others onto me. That's wrong.
