Obviously this scenario requires that Trump wins the Republican Nomination. Which is once again a question mark.

Could it feasibly work? Trump having no problems jumping all over the political spectrum. Bloomberg is himself an independent. I don't think Bloomberg has staying power to be President. No one outside NY cares about him, and they only know about him through various silly proposals that he has made over the years. So Michael Bloomberg seems like an obvious choice for Trump's VP and one that makes more sense than others.

It would be the closest thing to an independent ticket that could disrupt the two party system lots of people seem to distrust.

I could see a Bloomberg/trump ticket. In the pairing Bloomberg would be the Alfa dog by a wide margin.

Trump and Bloomberg are good friends and they work well together. If Bloomberg is serious we'll see how his campaign plays out, he could certainly buy the election, but nothing has been able to bring Trump into VP status yet. Though, Iowa is still to come.

Trump said in an interview that they used to be friends. Probably has to do with Bloomberg being 10 times wealthier than him.

Quit it, you are going to give me nightmares with this stuff.

Me too. I'd be forced to move out of the country with Barbra Streisand if that happens. She did move out of the country after Bush won like she promised, right?

Not a chance, Bloomberg is way too liberal to be on the ticket with Trump. Just because Bloomberg is considering a run as an "Independent" does not really mean he is moderate to any political ideology in any respect. I would argue that Bloomberg is more liberal than Hillary, but not quite as liberal as Sanders. Also, Bloomberg is an authoritarian who advocates for government function and power. That is the last thing Trump needs to align himself with being that his strongest support is coming from people who are upset and feel alienated from our current overbearing government.

This is almost silly to even consider.

No, this would kill trumps chance and destroy the support he has built.

Bloomberg is a true scumbag and would be better served on a democrat party ticket.

You never know with two stark opposing views like that it could disrupt things enough so that a pretty independent ticket could win. Plus I'm not buying trumps current rhetoric. He has pretty liberal views himself on most things! It's just a few central things he is running on as far to the right.

The problem is despite Trump's history of making comments, he has aligned himself and gained support from a group of disenfranchised voters who would be entirely adversarial to Bloomberg. Just on the 2nd Amendment issue alone Trump running with Bloomberg is a non-starter.

It does not matter how well we craft an argument that Trump is a flip-flopper on issues, or is a moderate, or is a liberal in disguise. Trump has engaged in a path to the Republican nod that is entirely incompatible with someone like Bloomberg.

To even consider this Trump would have to drop all of his existing support that lean Republican and appeal to moderates and Independents *and without exception* tell Bloomberg to never speak about the 2nd Amendment, Abortion, Taxation and Fiscal Budgets, Education, "Global Warming," and so many other subjects where Bloomberg clearly falls liberal.

And you know every bit of this is accurate.

Alex Baldwin was going to do the same thing and he still lives in NY.

If he's going to go that route I'd rather see him choose a more conservative Democrat, pull Evan Bayh out of "retirement" or tap someone like Jon Tester.

All of this would kind of imply that Trump knows that there are conservative Democrats out there, and I suspect that's asking too much of him, but I think it would go a lot further toward accomplishing what you're talking about.

More likely he'd have to pick someone like Ted Cruz as a nod toward the idiot fringe of the Republican Party.

Of course and I wouldn't put it past him to do just that. He doesn't care about his supporters as half of them are paid anyway, at least his most vocal ones are. He's already bitch-slapped the entire establishment.

He's already starting to do that now with his complaints launched at Fox News. Who usually does that?

The probability of Bloomberg's agreeing to run on a ticket with Trump is infinitesimally small. For practical purposes, it's zero. The gap between them on issues, philosophy, temperament is enormous.
