Trump Pledges to Make God Great Again

At a campaign rally at Jerry Falwell's Christian Liberty University yesterday....

Trump Pledges to Make God Great Again

Lynchburg, Va. — Evangelicals weren’t supposed to like Donald Trump. He’s boasted about never asking God for forgiveness, exhibited total Biblical illiteracy, and had as many wives as an Old Testament patriarch.

But none of that matters. When the billionaire mogul spoke at Liberty University this morning, he got a rapturous welcome that showed just how much Evangelicals love him—and why. The obsequiously warm reception he received may upend conventional wisdom about what conservative Christians want from their presidential candidates. And that’s great news for Trump.

Fox News morning programming warmed up the 11,000-strong crowd, and then the university’s hipster Christian worship band led students in song.

“We worship you today because you’re the great celebrity in this place,” prayed David Nasser, the school’s senior vice president for spiritual development, addressing God.

The boisterous crowd—some of whom woke up at 3:30 a.m. to get good seats—proceeded to worship Trump.

Trump’s performance certainly drew some sneers, especially when an attempt to pander fell flat after Trump mispronounced a Biblical reference as “Two Corinthians” instead of “Second Corinthians.” But despite that, his overwhelmingly warm reception confirms that he’s just as competitive as any other Republican among Evangelical Christian voters.

…and sure to have said……. “I have a great relationship with Him… and have employed Him Thousands of times… don’t ya just love Him…….”
Of course speaking of the Christian God as opposed to the God of Islam…..

And IMO has some serious mental and reality problems making him more a "loose cannon" and less than stable and qualified candidate for the Presidency

Trump is a very dangerous joke, and supporting him will backfire. But please, can you post actual footage of Trump "wanting to make God great again"? I would like to hear it from the horse's mouth.

Thank you

A neuroscientist explains: Trump has a mental disorder that makes him a dangerous world leader

A”… Donald Trump is a “textbook” narcissist… puts(ing) Trump in the same category as a number of infamous dictators like Muammar Gaddafi, Napoleon Bonaparte, and Saddam Hussein… when a narcissist is given immense power over people’s lives, they can behave much differently … we must ask ourselves, if elected president would Donald Trump act on the behalf of the will of the people, or would he behave more like a dictator—silencing any dissenting voices, perpetually refusing to compromise, and being oppressive to certain groups
…narcissistic personality disorder is “a mental disorder in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance, a deep need for admiration and a lack of empathy for others…To be fair, it is certainly true that all narcissists are not terrible people… .(but) it is also the trait that makes him potentially dangerous as a political leader….

…position of President of the United States is one that requires great empathy, a certain amount of humility, the ability to preserve relationships, and a willingness to establish new ones… qualities that the narcissist lacks, and with their absence comes danger … Donald Trump is very much like Gollum from Lord of the Rings, and the presidency is his “one ring to rule them all.” In this case we do not have the option of destroying the ring. The best we can strive for is keeping it out of the possession of those who cannot resist abusing its power.”

A warning from professionals……..the Donald is a dangerous loose cannon…

Weren't experts saying the same about Obama?

Reagan courted the Religious Right by inviting them to the table and giving them what they wanted--a say in government policy decision making (power). Carter was too upstanding to do such a horrible thing.

Reagan did nothing for the religious right but to pretend to share its concerns. During his administration and that of George H.W. Bush abortion remained legal. Prayer and Bible reading in public schools remained illegal. The gay rights movement achieved more during the administrations of Reagan and Bush I than did the religious right.

Reagan had two concerns. He wanted to fight Communism. He wanted to make the rich richer. Those were the goals he was willing to take risks for. With those concerns he was splendidly sucessful. He never really cared about the religious right.

He never needed to. Christian conservatives were content with rhetorical support. These were people who had been laughed at since the Scopes Monkey Trial of 1925. They were grateful for any support and any kind of support they could get.

I agree that he conned them to gain their support and then stiff-armed the specific changes that they really wanted. But, he threw them enough bones that suddenly lunatics like Jerry Falwell became a force in American politics.

I think a lot of Americans want a dictator who agrees with them, and who achieves what they want to have achieved.

IMHO...........

I think the folks you speak of are those scared chit less by Faux and other RW media sources claiming the "sky is falling" that they will seek the comfort giving up their liberty, their right to think and freedom to anyone they think will protect them.....

Which in my studies is/was a classic organizing strategy/goal of fascist propaganda........

Eric Hoffer's book, "The True Believer" is a great book describing the subject and thought process of a zealot/true believer......I recommend it...........short.........easy read
