If The R Party Abandons Trump Like Goldwater What Happens?

Trump supporters cannot see thru his BS ego trip he is no different than the rest so stop pretending
Good presidents always have very healthy egos, so Trump having a big ego is a requirement. And he has a long record of using it pretty well too....

Its not his ego that worries

Its his bullying attitude

Is he going to bully congress so we can have more gridlock

He is way to petty for my liking

It is anyone who works in Congress elected or not, those who write big checks, those who run campaigns, those who trot out the R talking points over the corporate media "journalists" or otherwise, R lobbyists, and those who run the Executive branch during R administrations

Some really good reading is here
Will the Republican Party Survive the 2016 Election? - The Atlantic

But this as about more than the R party. There is a sense in america that those who have been churned out by the upper crust university, especially the Ivy's, neither understand what Americans want or care, because their actions have over a long period of time indicated that what they want is to make the rest of us do what they want us to do, and they skim wealth off of the society while adding very little of value. There is now a movement of rebellion against this class, currently solidly behind Trump because he is the only one who has ever understood or showed a willingness to fight for us. I fully expect that those little people who have traditionally been considered moderates or D's will vote for Trump in great numbers.

Those who graduated from an Ivy, especially with an advanced degree, are guilty of being the enemy until they as individuals convince us that they are not. THose with extensive government leadership experience are the enemy. By the time he is done this experience that Hillary keeps yakking about is going to be what disqualifies her from the POTUS chair, and that would have happened even if she had ever shown any competence in her work, which she has not.

That's patently absurd on an almost metaphysical level.

Btw, your hero Donald Trump graduated from an Ivy. With an advanced degree.

Lots of people, many on the right say that Rush has the power to make or break R POTUS Candidates.

This concludes your tutoring season for today....

Rush Limbaugh is a bloviating asshole and anyone who takes a word he says seriously is an idiot.

You realize that Obama is a bully president right?

I don't understand the disdain for those like Rush and Alex Jones, sure they can both be over the top and ridiculous some of the time, but not all of time. Why can't you take "a word" seriously is beyond me.

A recent Iowa pool for example has 27% of the likely R caucus goers making over $100K a year income

http://www.quinnipiac.edu/images/polling/ia/ia01112016_demos_Ikm63gb.pdf

And Trump gets 26% of them and Cruz 22%

Iowa (IA) Poll - January 11, 2016 - Trump, Cruz Running Away With | Quinnipiac University Connecticut

36% have a 4 year degree or better and 35% of them go for Trump as well.

Too many people believe the crappola the corporate class propaganda media spoon feeds them, sorry to say.

Well what do you know, I just watched the R's go after Trump in the SOTU rebuttal, after Obama went after him in the SOTU. Me thinks that The Donald is rattling some cages up there in the land of the elite.

I also think that the question I posed earlier has been answered, that both the D and the R elite are going to join forces and throw everything they can find up against the champion of the little people.

Last night given by Nikki Haley where she openly castigated Donald Trump marked the beginnings of open warfare in the Republican Party which IMHO can irrevocably split the Republican Party…. (See Haley transcript at: Republican response to State of the Union: Transcript - CNNPolitics.com)

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R) gave a widely-praised response to President Barack Obama's last State of the Union speech on Tuesday, imploring Republicans to tone down their divisive rhetoric, particularly the bombastic, nativist appeals employed by the party's presidential front-runner, Donald Trump.

“Some people think that you have to be the loudest voice in the room to make a difference. That is just not true," Haley said. "Often, the best thing we can do is turn down the volume. When the sound is quieter, you can actually hear what someone else is saying. And that can make a world of difference." earning her a withering Right-wing backlash of disapproval from the most conservative voices in her party the morning after — voices like commentator Ann Coulter’s who demanded the rising GOP star and daughter of Indian immigrants be deported.

Haley's speech won praise from Republicans who've opposed Trump.” Proud of my friend @nikkihaley for delivering a positive & uplifting response to Pres. Obama's #SOTU. Clear vision for a brighter future," Jeb Bush wrote on Twitter.”

To me…….this sounds like war……….

What is this thing about "elites"?

Are you using the word as defined............"In political and sociological theory, an elite is a small group of powerful people, such as an oligarchy, that controls a disproportionate amount of wealth ..........."

Or is it being used with some other definition?

Those who run the institutions of the collective, or who otherwise have a disproportionate amount of power by way of being credentialed as an expert, or by way of the power of wealth. They are the deciders, and all too often they use their power to pressure the rest of the people to conform to their will.

There is no hard and fast dividing line for me, and being a member of the elite does not make one automatically a bad person, but they often are. This country went off the rails because those who were intrusted to run it put it there, and I for one am pissed off about that. THus my support of Trump.

I understand and appreciate your point of view........which in part I too see as part of the problem...........

However, I doubt our salvation will be found in voting for an egotistical blowhard bully who in truth............has little use for you or me........and who would wet his pants when the phone rang at 3 am........

nobody in Washington has had any use for you or me for a very long time, except when they need votes, so I dont see how voting for Trump could end up any worse on that point than what we have been getting.

If what you are doing is not working then do something else.

TRump is my something else.

I must agree with you...........a study by graduate Princeton Poly Sci department measured policy decisions against public support......They examined 2200 cases...........Of the 2200 cases not one of the government's decisions was in keeping with public opinion..............Now that is a sure sign of what both favor........ don't mean too much at all.....as in they don't give a s*^$ about you and me

But I doubt IMHO.......the egotistical megalomaniac Donald would be much better

There’s a smidgen of truth to this argument: Trump does ceaselessly talk about how he’s a winner. But he does so in the manner of a military leader like Patton or an athlete like Muhammad Ali, as a way of rallying his supporters and his own psyche for combat. Losing individual battles doesn’t refute such boastfulness; it only reinforces a sense that victory must be won.

To say that Trump’s appeal is “entirely personal” ignores the fact that Trump has won an enthusiastic fan base by taking hardline stances on immigration and terrorism. Pat Buchanan was on surer grounds when he told The New York Times that, under Trump’s influence, the Republican Party is likely to become “more nationalist and tribal and more about protecting the border.” Buchanan’s sentiments were backed up by Leo Martin, a 62-year-old machinist who told the Times, “The Republican Party has never done anything for the working man like me, even though we’ve voted Republican for years. ... This election is the first in my life where we can change what it means to be a Republican.”

As these remarks make clear, Trump’s support comes not just from who he is, but what he stands for and what he promises to do. As Fund acknowledges, focus-group research shows that Trump’s supporters display “remarkable loyalty to the real-estate mogul and scant interest in other candidates.” This loyalty is best understood as devotion to the nationalist and tribalist policies Trump is putting forward, rather than simple enthusiasm for Trump as a man. And losing a few primaries isn’t likely to make such devotion melt away.

Trump, for his part, has some experience bouncing back from losses outside the political arena. He knows how to craft a comeback story for himself. In the field where he claims to have mastery (business), he’s declared bankruptcy four times, but has turned that into a narrative of his cunning in exploiting existing law. The need to overcome adversity doesn’t necessarily tarnish a winner, but can instead reinforce the idea that he or she is a fighter and a hero. If Trump were to lose in Iowa, there are any number of ways he could turn the narrative to his advantage, either by implying trickery on the part of his enemies or by selling himself as a “comeback kid” if he wins another primary.

You dont understand Trump nor a huge chunk of his supporters. Read the link, this author is at least sniffing around reality.

Note: one of the things that people dont understand about Trump is that he becomes even more of a pitbull when he loses a round or two, this idea that he is going to fold up his tent and go home if he loses Iowa is garden variety delusion. I see today Cruz is saying (paraphrase) " Trump seems rattled, I must be getting to him" but Cruz is pretty bright so he must know that is a lie, Trump is the last person to get rattled, cause getting rattled makes one a loser and Trump is a winner in one of he most brutal gigs around, high powered NYC realestate.

New Republic aint what it used to be, but we see here that they sometimes come up with some gems. This piece is far closer to reality than is 98% of what you will read about Trump from the Corporate Class Propaganda MAchine.

Where are the criminal cases against him for fraud? Manhattan has had very talented very aggressive District Attorneys who have shown a strong desire to haul the rich and powerful in for beatings, it makes great TV and is good for their political careers, but never Trump.

OOPS!

Dont blame Trump for the rules of the game that everyone plays by.

So, did you lose to him?

You need not be a criminal to qualify for the title of dirt bag...

By all means if you like him...... vote for him...........but to argue as to my personal opinion of the man is a waste of both our time.........

Deport Nikki Haley - WSJ
She fails the new right litmus test against any immigration……………….

When Nikki Haley offered the Republican response to President Obama’s final State of the Union, the American people heard an articulate conservative who has twice been elected Governor in South Carolina. It’s a sign of the GOP’s distemper that some conservatives denounced her because she didn’t denounce legal immigration.

Gov. Haley’s parents came to America from India. Her father taught botany at Voorhees College. Her mother started what would become a multimillion-dollar clothing company out of the living room of the family home. As she put it Tuesday, “I am the proud daughter of Indian immigrants who reminded my brothers, my sister and me every day how blessed we were to live in this country.”

Her conservative critics unloaded. “Trump should deport Nikki Haley” went one tweet. The next morning on “Fox & Friends,” Donald Trump declared that Gov. Haley is “very weak on immigration.”
.
Are we talking about the same Nikki Haley? The woman who says “illegal immigration is not welcome in South Carolina”? Who signed a law toughening the state’s illegal immigration reform act, which requires employers to verify the immigration status of new hires? Who has fought President Obama’s bid to resettle unvetted Syrian refugees? And whose state has joined 16 others in a lawsuit against Mr. Obama for what they say is his unconstitutional executive order on illegal immigration?

The distinction Gov. Haley is trying to make is between a functioning, legal immigration system that works in America’s interest—which Republicans say they want—and the unlawful, broken and arbitrary system that encourages illegality—which is what we now have and which President Obama exploits to the Democrats’ political advantage.

The attacks on Ms. Haley show that many on the right these days oppose any immigrants, even those who arrive legally. They also want to make opposition to immigration a GOP litmus test. A party that rejects Nikki Haley as a spokeswoman is one that doesn’t really want to build a governing majority.

The vast majority of Republican elites remain bitterly opposed to the prospect of Mr. Cruz’s becoming the party’s presidential nominee, some even preferring to take their chances with Donald J. Trump. Yet, to the strains of a jazz trio a block from St. Charles Avenue here, over Texas barbecue at his Houston campaign office and in one of Washington’s see-and-be-seen steakhouses, Mr. Cruz, Washington’s chief anti-establishment agitator, has quietly begun wooing some of the party’s most entrenched donors and officials.

“We’re working hard to consolidate a lot of support,” Mr. Cruz told a reporter as he mingled with guests arriving at Ms. Matalin’s home.

Some in the old guard have started signaling to their reluctant right-of-center brethren that it is time to face the possibility that the hard-line Mr. Cruz could be their standard-bearer.

“If Cruz makes it, which is very doable, every one of the establishment crowd who is now eviscerating him will line up, salute smartly and get on board,” Ms. Matalin said, offering a mix of prodding and prophecy. “No one will want to be responsible for a G.O.P. defeat.

New York Times: GOP Establishment Faces Harsh Reality - Warms to Cruz

I have no doubt that the R elite will work with Cruz, but will they work with Trump?

Who all signed off on Haley's trashing for Trump in the State of the Union Rebuttal?

Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump says South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley is right that he is one of the “angriest voices” — but Trump said that’s a good thing for America.

“She is right. I am angry, and a lot of other people are angry too at how incompetently our country’s being run,” Trump said Wednesday night on CNN’s “Erin Burnett Outfront.”

“I don’t care, let her refer to me. As far as I’m concerned, anger and energy is what this country needs,” he continued.
Trump: Our Country Needs My Anger

BAM!
