He has not risen ever in the polls, but that has never stopped the Paul's from declaring universal acclaim for their ideas and beliefs. Even though, no one seems to be talking about Rand right now. Um where's the media blackout claims? Yup even those people don't care about him! What happened at the debate that made him memorable? No thing. What happened recently that should force a candidate for President out? Well his silly filibusterer lasted only 18 minutes!!! What's more is that he doesn't seem to understand the constitution.

One of the main talking points Paul used to argue against the bill was that the suspension of the debt limit, as opposed to the raising of the limit to a new, specific dollar amount, grants the President a blank check to spend the people’s money on whatever he pleases. But this is just not true. With a debt-limit suspension, the Treasury can only borrow money for spending that has already been authorized by Congress.

I'm pretty up on this stuff, and I had forgotten he was still in the race when he was introduced as such on CNN the other day.

Yeah the Paul's have been quiet now that daddy is a Russian shill but I still like to keep an eye on the nut jobs every once and awhile

How soon will it be when these nut jobs will be out of the political limelight? Ditto for Jeb.

I think you're going to start to see the GOP also-rans drop like flies in the next few weeks. There's simply no justification to spend the kind of cash these guys and gals are when you're polling below the Mendoza Line.

The complete and utter failure of Rand Paul in his presidential effort is rather amazing given that he seemed to be a bit more politically astute than his father on some positions over the last few years. But its hard to sell a product that people have no need for no matter how much you use the words NEW and IMPROVED in the marketing.

The man should simply walk off the stage.... he has been done for several months now and simply does not realize it.

As to the 15 minute much promised filibuster - he certainly is NOT going to cause anyone to forget Jimmy Stewart.

That was my first thought "he is still in?"

"Rand Paul Out Next?"

I doubt it. I think he understands he won't be president and isn't really running for president at this point. I think he is looking for a pulpit for his opinions. As such, he will stay as long as he can afford to.

Paul's filibuster was short lived because he knew McConnell had secured enough votes to get the debt ceiling raised giving Obama once more what he wanted.

But what it did do is force a late night session where several Republicans went to the floor and shared their opposition to the bill. One was Cruz and his speech has gotten a good amount of coverage in the media.

The 18 Republicans that voted with all the Democrats are many of the same ones that capitulate over and over again and have allowed Obama to get just about everything he wants. Isn't it rather pathetic that Obama and Democrats shoved so much spending through in his first two years than anyone would ever imagine. And now with Republicans in the majority in Congress, too many are willing to hand over more credit to this administration to cover the crap. By 2010 the people voted in Republicans to the House to stop the fecklessness. It helped some but not near enough because there seem to be a number of Republicans in the House that like to capitulate. Then the People gave the Republicans a majority in the Senate hoping that would stop the bleeding. But unfortunately, there are too many establishment darlings willing to roll over and play dead instead of demanding fiscal responsibility.
Here are the names of the 18 capitulating Republican Senators.

Alexander
Ayotte
Barrasso
Capito
Cochran
Collins
Cornyn
Graham
Hatch
Kirk
McCain
Mc Connell
Murkowski
Roberts
Round
Thune
Tillis
Wicker

A new Gallup poll out shows GOP voters view McConnell as unfavorable after just 10 months on the job because of all the compromising he has allowed in giving this administration what they want and not listening to the voters that gave the Republicans the majority.
Republicans' Views of McConnell Now Tilt Negative

Here is the speech that Cruz gave before the vote. It's 5 times longer than Paul's filibuster.

It's worth a listen to and explains why so many of us are tired of the charade.

Good morning, Vesper. :2wave:

I don't want to waste time checking - why bother since it's a done deal anyway - but how many of them are from "blue" States?

McConnell has also been a puzzling disappointment to many people so far in the way he's handling things - I wonder what happened?

Morning Pol!

I think it does matter even if they did pass it because the people are tired of this Republican majority giving the Democrats everything they want. It is because of Republican leadership why this is happening. It is why Boehner has exited stage left. A lot of those names on that list are senators from red states. And several of them keep voting with the Democrats that hands Obama pretty much everything he wants. What does it say when the majority of Republicans are against something in Congress and the Republican leadership in the Congress can't or won't work to honor the majority's wishes?

Rand Paul's filibuster only lasted 18 minutes but at least he spoke out against the fecklessness of raising the debt ceiling another friggin 85 billion! But for that he gets ridiculed. Maybe instead of ridiculing Paul for his 18 minute filibuster they should be ridiculing the 18 Republican senators that gave Obama a blank check till the end of his term.

Cruz spoke five times longer than Paul's filibuster. It was a long speech but it's worth listening to because it explains why people in the GOP are getting fed up with the leadership in Congress.

I noticed that my video of the Cruz speech did not get posted. I must not have copied the link properly.

I think Paul will be around a bit longer than some of the others, much like how his father was.

It will be a shame, though, when he drops out. Not that I would have ever voted for him, but it was nice to have a voice of reason on the GOP stage when it came to NSA spying, war, and privacy.
