Ben Carson Thinks You Are Going To Hell

So you're upset that "hell" doesn't refer to eternal damnation, but rather the mass genocide of all that are "wicked."

Nope :) I'm entertained that ya'll launched an ignorant slander against a man's religion and turned out to be woefully, hilariously, off-base

:) Should they be as embarrassed as you for claiming that Carson's SDA beliefs means he thinks most other Christians are going to hell, when it turns out that SDA doesn't even believe in hell?

I'm not embarrassed, your own link shows that the S.D.A believe that people who aren't following their particular beliefs will be doomed and are "wicked."

:thinking but no hell....

Gosh. It looks like the OP and those who supported it were ignorant about what they were talking about...

Gosh. An ignorant and bigoted attack against someone for their religion? That seems so unlike the modern left.....

Not off base at all. The SDA believe that everyone who is "wicked" will be doomed to death, mass genocide by the "compassionate" god.
A central belief of the SDA most other Christian denominations will end up working with the devil. Seventh-day Adventists hold that the Sabbath should be worshipped on Saturday and that religions that observe the Sabbath on Sunday have been corrupted by Satan...

Quick! Look over there! Look At Anything Except The Fact That We Made A Fool Of Ourselves In This Thread!!!

I'm directly addressing all of your posts, you even agree that SDA believe this:
a central belief of the church is that most other Christian denominations will end up working with the devil. Seventh-day Adventists hold that the Sabbath should be worshipped on Saturday and that religions that observe the Sabbath on Sunday have been corrupted by Satan. The church’s early prophet Ellen White cast much of the blame for this supposed perversion of the Sabbath on the Roman Catholic Church…
So, anyone who isn't a SDA will work with the devil, and everyone who isn't a SDA is "wicked." But how do you define hell?
They reject the traditional doctrine of hell as a state of everlasting conscious torment, believing instead that the wicked will be permanently destroyed after the millennium. The theological term for this teaching is Annihilationism.
So the "traditional" doctrine is rejected. This doesn't take away from the fact that SDA believe that the "wicked" will be permanently destroyed.

No "traditional" hell. Ignorant? Yes, point out a tiny technicality when carson literally believes that the "wicked" will be permanently destroyed. I can only imagine the suffering this will entitle. That's not the "traditional" hell though.

Here's the political question: Do the evangelical voters who are drawn to Carson because of his articulate and forceful professions of his Christian faith realize that he may well consider them future allies of Satan? And if they did, would this matter to them?
Keep grubbing over the 'traditional hell' though.

This is an incredibly smart man, and the fact that he believes this nonsense is terrifying. Religion poisons everything.

...I don't think you get to pick your own Hell.

But if so..... just in case.... have I ever mentioned how much I absolutely loathe bacon, fine wine, and lingerie models?

*Cpwill goes to hell, is presented with his favorite wine, proceeds to sip it. "Hmm, it's corked. It's corked?! NOOOOOOO!!!!"*

Other posters will now jump on you because carson doesn't believe in the 'traditional hell' but rather that the "wicked" will be permanently destroyed and work with satan, the wicked being:
Seventh-day Adventists hold that the Sabbath should be worshipped on Saturday and that religions that observe the Sabbath on Sunday have been corrupted by Satan. The church’s early prophet Ellen White cast much of the blame for this supposed perversion of the Sabbath on the Roman Catholic Church…
So, the take away is, MJ uses "hell" when discussing carson and this immediately dismisses the lunacy of carson's views. Even though SDA believe that satan will corrupt every other religion/the followers and that everyone is doomed.

Let's keep in mind..
“You know Obamacare is really I think the worst thing that has happened in this nation since slavery. And it is in a way, it is slavery in a way, because it is making all of us subservient to the government, and it was never about health care. It was about control.” - Carson
So much for 9/11...

I think Ben Carson is living proof that skill and knowledge are not synonymous with intellect. I don't think he's very smart in the sense that he can form cogent and well-reasoned viewpoints. He makes ridiculous and logically incoherent statements, then complains that everyone is twisting his words.

What do you think would be more shocking for an evangelical:

1. Carson believes in a literal six-day creation period
2. Carson believes 98% of Christians are hell-bound and pawns of Satan?

Neither is shocking for an evangelical as that is pretty much an evangelical belief, with the caveat or nuance that Christians believe that Christians will have eternal life, but that 98% of people that call themselves Christian are not really Christian and therefore hell-bound.

Reading this made me sad, Your Star. My faith has been my strength and joy my entire life. So many folks seem to have been hurt, and I'm so sorry.

Ignorant and bigoted ? Harsh words!

I wonder if you'd be so eager to shovel religious condemnation from a major presidential candidate down your throat if it was coming from a Muslim ?

And we're the religious bigots.

I agree with your first sentence simply because i do not consider Carson to be a smart man.

That is, unless you hold the Sabbath on a Saturday. Also, Sunday-Service Christians will consort with the Devil and conspire to enslave/lock up Seventh-Day Adventists. Just more ridiculous beliefs this "genius" doctor holds. Wonder how his evangelical supporters will feel about him when they finally learn this fact?

Seventh Day Adventists can be kind of weird. After all, look at David Koresh.

To me, faith isn't a good thing. Faith is believing something without evidence, and that is not a good thing in my mind. Faith is what leads to people flying planes into buildings. And religion itself is just not necessary. We have all the love that we could ever want right here, on this Earth. With the people around us, our family and friends. Why would you ever need the love of something that isn't there mucking up the real love that exists between the people around you? I don't know everything, but I do know that religion is not something I need, nor do I think it is something that anyone needs. It just gets in the way.

Except it's not, is it? [emoji4] It's coming from ma Jones.

And yeah. When you gleefully rush to degrade someone because of their faith while demonstrating little actual knowledge of that faith... Well, you end up making ignorant and bigoted arguments. Congratulations. You are now the left wing equivalent of all those fools who spent the last few years insisting Obama was a secret Muslim.

I don't understand how this guy can be a talked about candidate when he is always saying such crazy things.

:) I love how, despite this claim already being debunked, people are still coming in to express how crazy it is that Carson believes it.

SDA's don't even believe in hell, Alyssa. Much less that all the other Christians are going there ;).

 yeah. A tiny technicality being that you claimed that Carson thought non SDA'ers were going to hell and it turns out (assuming he's stuck to the tenets of his faith) that he doesn't even believe such a place exists. The tiny technicality that the key premise of the argument turned out to be wrong.

:) Look, dude, you got taken in because an article offered you the chance to look down on and laugh at both Carson and his supporters who are evangelicals, and so you didn't stop to apply critical thought or research. It happens.

Well, let him lead the way and we will think about it then.
