Uh oh, GOP candidates start offering details of their Obamacare replacements[W:183]

Re: Uh oh, GOP candidates start offering details of their Obamacare replacements

Ah so you cannot discuss this topic honestly. Then I'll save you the time and say have a nice day.

I wasnt' sure if Ock was really that dumb or was just refusing to acknowledge the facts out of some deluded loyalty to the right's agenda. Now we know he really does think you have to write a check for 6000 dollars on your first visit to the doctor.

Re: Uh oh, GOP candidates start offering details of their Obamacare replacements

Conservatives considered Obamacare long before anyone ever heard of Obama and rejected it....
You know MC, you are almost right. Yes, conservatives considered it, accepted it, pushed for it and then in 2009 rejected it.

Re: Uh oh, GOP candidates start offering details of their Obamacare replacements

LOL.

I understand. You can't back up your claim.
And using your logic, you are lying as well because you can't show me yours. Shame that.

Seems to be a common theme in right wing ACA criticism. The stories all fall apart once you ask for evidence.
Seems a common theme to dismiss people's problems and scapegoat them to protect the signature left-wing Obama law. Same old same old.

Coherence in reading was never Vern's strong suit... he cannot comprehend simple sentences as written in the article written and linked. It's a shame that Vern's ability to discuss a topic devolves predictably into ad hominem nonsense. Perhaps he doesn't know the difference between a deductible and a premium.

that's just it ock, if what I posted was "ad hominem nonsense" you would be able to shred it instead of whining at me. You've posted "ad hominem nonsense" a 9 year old could shred.

lets review your "ad hominem nonsense"
you think people have to pay the deductible upfront to see a doctor
you believe a farmers health care costs have tripled because his deductible has tripled
you called Greenbeard's factual response to you dishonest
you think you've posted a link to an article. You posted a blurb from it and stated "it's not generally available at the papers website unless you have an account. "

and now you hilariously accuse me of not knowing the difference between a premium and a deductible. If you are unable to respond to in an honest and intelligent manner, why are you at a debate forum?

I'm thinking you don't really know the definition of "ad hominem".

Here's a tip: Enter the following into a Google search bar..."define ad hominem". Education is a wonderful thing.

you're right, I thought it meant "stupid". see con, I'm not afraid of the truth. But his posts are a text book example of ad hominem because he tries to make it about the poster instead of what was posted.

Moderator's Warning:
Ok, I just handed out a few infractions for being too personal. If no one wants to join them then please do not make things personal. Stick to the topic.

Re: Uh oh, GOP candidates start offering details of their Obamacare replacements

For spending under $2,000, nothing.

Ah so you cannot discuss this topic honestly. Then I'll save you the time and say have a nice day.

well ock, you seem to have some 'confident' beliefs about Obamacare. Please explain how Greenbeard's post is dishonest. remember, this is a debate forum not a chat room. Posting "you're dishonest" with no explanation is just ad hominem ( I would say whining but I learned what ad hominem means today). Considering you complained about ad hominem posts, you really should explain it. So please explain.

My beliefs are irrelevant.... I'm citing the article I posted which is on topic. I am not the topic. Now please stop discussing me.

And from now on, please use my forum name - Ockham. I do not appreciate being called "Ock".

Ockham, you posted a blurb from an article (not an article) as proof of something. From what you've repeatedly posted it seems you really don't understand how deductibles work. I tried to explain it to you. Greenbeard tried to explain it to you. You asked Greenbeard a question and he answered quite honestly and you called him dishonest which actually proves you don't understand how a deductible works. Now read this part slowly, THIS IS A DEBATE FORUM and it would greatly aid the discussion of your blurb to understand how deductibles work. But you're not here to have a discussion, you're only here to obediently parrot the tired and false narratives about Obamacare.

so sorry, its not about you. when you call someone dishonest, your beliefs are relevant. Again what was dishonest about Greenbeard's post?

My motive for posting is not the topic of this thread. The article documents real people who are afraid of using their health care due to cost.

What part of the article would you like to discuss? As stated, my motivations, my "beliefs" are not the issue - the thread is about GOP alternatives and I've stated with the article provided that there is a need for an alternative. Discuss the facts, not me. Do you understand?

That's clearly not the case, as I've already posted about them.

I'm discussing the article - what part of the article is not clear to you?

so sorry, its not about you. Again what was dishonest about Greenbeard's post?
Then discuss the topic and discuss the article and the people in the article, not my understanding or your perception thereof. Got it?

you only prove you shouldn't be at a debate forum. You called someone dishonest simply because they answered your question honestly now cowardly deflect. And fyi, you're discussing an article that only you have read and is not thread related.

I was going to do a little illustration of how health plans work using the plan the man in the story likely chose. Problem is when I actually looked at the marketplace offerings in his rating area in New Jersey, there aren't any family plans with $6,000 deductibles--not even the bronze options. $5,000 is the highest deductible available for a family.

Apparently some information is being left out of this story.

So you need more explanation as to how to discuss the topic?

Hmmm.

I thought it was odd that he's paying 2,000/mo and has a $6K deductible. That premium is almost "cadillac plan" level (cadillac plans start at $27,500/yr for family coverage) and cadillac plans are known for having low, or even no, deductibles.

Yeah. I assumed they're in their 60s to get the premiums up, since the plans are age rated and older folks pay the most. But I couldn't assume they have more than 2 kids (since I was assuming $100K for income, which seemed generous for a farmer--add another kid and they become subsidy eligible at that income, and I'm assuming they can't get a subsidy). It's tough to get the premium to the level quoted, even with those assumptions.

But the big problem was that there are no plans in their exchange with deductibles that high. Unless you assume he was overestimating by a full 20%, in which case who cares about the rest of his story?

Re: Uh oh, GOP candidates start offering details of their Obamacare replacements

Because the person in the story is lying like they always are in these types of situations.
