Jeb Bush accuses Obamba of creating chaos in the world by using too many big words...

In an interview with the Union Leader, aspiring 2016 Republican presidential nominee Jeb Bush took a slap at the foreign policies of President Barack Obama, stating that the leader of the free world uses too many big words and wastes his time at conferences with world leaders instead of forging ahead.

Dang them civilized like conferences and them darn ol' big words.
This makes sense up in New Hampshire.

Perhaps Bush didn't use little enough words for you to understand his point. That seems to be happening with the left a lot these days.

Just another thread that convinces me the left is terrified of Jeb Bush and that in about 18 months you'll be inaugurating your President Bush III

There's nothing " civilized " about Obama's Foreign Policy disasters.

Well, the Republicans do cater to people who don't understand "big words," ... people they hope stay that way ... because if they could understand what the Republicans were doing to most of those not-too-bright, white, middle class, easily worked up folks,... there'd not be a viable Republican party.

Just like we were terrified of literally every other candidate in the last several elections. Terrified of Mccain/Palin, terrified of Trump, terrified of Romney, terrified of Pawlenty, terrified of Christie, no wait liberals love Christie now, terrified of Huckabee. Blah blah blah.

Are you sure this isn't projection? Are you sure you aren't just terrified of Hillary Clinton?

I wouldn't call that an accurate portrayal of his statement.

Here is the quote: "Big syllable words and lots of fancy conferences and meetings and - We're not leading. That creates chaos. It creates a more dangerous world. So restoring the alliances that have kept the world safer and our country safer - getting back to a position in the Middle East where there's no light between Israel and the United States."

Would an accurate portrayal be something along the lines of, "Big words and lots of fancy meetings [are not helpful], the United States must be the decider. We have to make the same friends [and go back to having the same enemies] that we had before because that was safer.

Yes that would be a better portrayal.

"Big words cause world chaos" isn't.

He is sounding more and more like his brother every day. It couldn't be funnier. I wonder if he supports a Palestinian State like his brother too? It seems like that has become a "lefty" position in the new Netanyahu led GOP.

I think anyone with even half a brain would be terrified of Hillary. That, unfortunately, leaves out most liberals.

Great! And I'm terrified of every Republican candidate because each and every one of them is bonkers and will lead this country to ruins. Probably yours too, as collateral damage.

And you're powerless to influence it. Doesn't that terrify you?

Nope, that doesn't terrify me. We've got a good, competent, consistent government that's done a good job managing through the last US screw-up of world finances and banking and your slow recovery so we'd likely be able to survive more years of American liberals, but there's no doubt incompetent government in Washington damages the financial and economic interests of far more than just Americans.

The fact that such a sizable number of Americans honestly think that Hillary Clinton would be a good President is what terrifies me. That level of mental illness is scary. There must be something dangerous in the water south of the border.

I think it's weird that you talk about surviving American liberals if they become president when the two worst economic disasters the U.S. and arguably the world has ever faced both come after Republican presidents.

Re: Jeb Bush accuses Obamba of creating chaos in the world by using too many big word

I have to agree with Bush.

What we need is plain talk when dealing with our friends and with our enemies. Plain talk has a way of pinning you down to exactly what you say. People are clear about where you stand.

But that seems to be something Obama and his administration isn't capable of or comfortable with.

It's pretty clear what Bush is saying here, though I probably would have used different terminology to describe the verbal methods of Obama and his people: They use weasel words whenever possible, people at home and around the world don't want weasel words. They want plain talk.

Yes, transparent talk. The purpose of glittering generalities is often to obfuscate--to obscure weak ideas.

That's arguable, but your point is not without merit. I simply note that the most recent "economic disaster" was a combination of initiatives on the part of President Clinton, his Housing Secretary, Cuomo, and a compliant Democrat Congress, that initially caused the mortgage ponsi schemes that followed into the 2000s. It's also well documented that President Bush and his administration, tried but failed to get the Congress, both sides, to act to rein in what was happening on Wall Street. Fortunately, for Canada, our banking system is much more stable, monitored and regulated. It's interesting though, in my view, that some of our banks got into regulatory and financial trouble with their expansions into the US markets. So it's easy to see that if there's nobody regulating the banks they can get themselves in a mess.

My point was/is that our Canadian Conservative government did a far better job than your American Liberal government in stimulating and lifting itself out of the mess from 2008 onward. Obama's stimulus was almost useless and coupled with other anti-business policies was totally ineffective. Only now, seven or eight years later, has business started investing again but unfortunately, without a strong US economy, Europe and Asia are starting back into recession and unless that changes they may bring American back down with them.

Your partisanship is showing yet again. Bush and Obama both had disastrous and pointless bailout plans that provided billions in government provided tax-payer giveaways with no accountability in the form of a "stimulus". Yet you only Blame Obama.

I will point something out though...
for Canada, our banking system is much more stable, monitored and regulated.

American conservatives hate monitoring and regulation of our banks. We can never improve our stabilize our financial sector as long as conservatives hold power in this country. Canadian conservative politicians are different than the ones we have: American conservative politicians hate the American people and have constantly tried to break and destroy American institutions.

Our water is okay...in fact, it's some of the best in the world.

No, the dangerous stuff isn't in the water, it's in the schools and in the media.

Well, we can both be partisan. I'd note that my criticism of Obama is that a) he took TARP monies approved in the dying days of the Bush administration and rather than create the tools for average Americans to renegotiate their home mortgages to a value that was credible and a payment plan that was manageable, he let the foreclosures continue unabated and he took a lot of that money and used it to buy Chrysler and GM for the auto unions and b) his almost $trillion stimulus in 2009, designed to goose infrastructure activity and the jobs associated with it was a colossal failure because they're were no infrastructure projects ready to fund and goose. Years passed with still no jobs being created and Obama, years later, admitted just that. And where he did affect jobs, it was at the State level in the public service in jobs that the States couldn't afford to maintain after the federal money ran out.

So in two ways Obama failed the economy and Americans - he failed to heal the housing market problems and he failed to assist in creating jobs.
