Conservative Supporters of Trump: You are being Played.

That's a really good OP! I am sincerely impressed - I didn't know much of that.

But it does go to show just how much of the Right tends to follow whoever's currently showing the most testosterone.

:raises eyebrow: And what percentage of the Left in the Bush Administration followed whatever person yelled the most venal thing about ole George W?

This isn't really a conservative or liberal thing so much as it is a human thing. It's part of why we have a Republic, instead of a Democracy - because the mob has a bunch of dumb people in it, and is easily swayed by ranters.

Well he may not be doing it intentionally, but helping the Democratic candidate is surely a most notable side effect that seems inevitable.

That's possible. On the other hand, if the conservative candidates do a good job of defining themselves in opposition to Mr Crazy Hair, it's harder to paint them as the crazy ones, as the left would assuredly love to do.

His exit would have a similar effect that Howard Dean's did in 2004: "Okay, the crazy person has left the race now, and it's time for adults".

This man is not a brash truth-teller who has thought through and come to conservative positions. He's an arrogant showboat who is saying what he thinks people want to hear. He's also not a conservative.

You think he's tough on immigration? Last cycle he was in favor of Amnesty - he decried Mitt Romney as being too conservative, too harsh, to uncaring for the feelings of immigrants. That's right - Mitt Romney: Too Conservative for Trump. In addition to being pro-amnesty, he's also pro-choice. When he ran for President before, he rain on a platform of raising taxes and instituting a wealth tax. He's also a fan of banning guns and single payer healthcare, and stumped for HILLARY"s HEALTH PLAN in 2007. He also thinks that Obama should have picked Hillary for Vice President because "she's such a terrific woman". Nor is Trump a capitalist - he's a Crony Capitalist who uses and abuses eminent domain to steal have the state seize on his behalf other people's property. Which is why he donates heavily to Democrats who will help him in return.

Now he's hopped on the populist bandwagon about actually enforcing our immigration laws. And yes, we should do it. But I'm sorry - with Trump? Parlez Vous Conservative?

(punch line stolen from Jonah Goldberg)

.....as the fear from politicians mounts.

I wish conservatives would stop pretending they hate eminent domain. Dubya used it to gain much of his wealth when he was in Texas and The Keystone pipeline executives are using eminent domain to take other people's property: including having one woman arrested for trespassing on her own property in Texas.

The run for President is just another tv show to him. He is doing it for fun and to get people talking about him. He is an attention whore to the bone.

You're the expert.

Hey. I've been annoying people on internet forums for more than a decade. I'm not a flash in the pan annoyance, I'm a long-term annoyance.

.....as the fear from politicians mounts.

Also worth noting. The only politicians worrying about Trump are the conservative ones who think The Ego is out to try to wreck the 2016 primaries by appealing to the We Like Loud Angry Noises demographic. Not big enough to win anything, but big enough with his money to keep him in the race and let him do damage to everyone else. The Democrats love him. The Democrats are happy as a Clinton in a pile of someone else's money that Trump is acting the way he is. That ought to give folks pause.

Or a hilariously humorous one, depending on how seriously one takes him!

I suspect the RNC might be taking him seriously. lol

Haha, absolutely!

And they can keep him!

It'll be fun to see how they resolve their little problem.

PS: I'd give you some "likes" but the link seems to have disappeared.

Thanks, no problem.

[BTW, the 'likes' button has moved to the small pink 'thumbs-up' icon in the extreme lower-left corner of the posts]

Here, watch:

*** presses pink button in lower-left corner of Moots' post ***

See?

Then why is he #2 in polls of Republicans? Are you saying that the Republican base are ignorant fools that can be bought with a few bigoted remarks? Are they really that shallow?

So "less crazy than Trump" will be the GOP slogan for 2016?

You might as well face it. Trump is not that much more extreme. Cruz even says he agrees with him.

I'm not a fan of Trump. I'm also not a fan of politicians. Trump is the only candidate saying what he actually thinks. You may not like what he thinks but I suggest we would be better as country if our leaders said what they actually think. Politics is humanity at its worst.

You assessment of 'The Donald' is similar to mine: I never take him seriously - at anything!

He is first & foremost, a showman impresario; the P.T. Barnum of our day.

He will say and do anything it takes, no matter how outlandish, to further his singular over-riding cause; that cause being: "Donald Trump"!

The reality is he will never in all of eternity become President. But, if some act of supernatural intervention were to befall us and he did, God help us because America cannot simply 'declare bankruptcy' and move-on as he has those quadruple times.

And having him in-charge of 'international eminent domain' via the U.S. military should petrify the rest of the world, knowing his track-record in the domestic use of this procedure!

But you had actors for Presidents before? Why would not Americans fall for this idiot this time?

Trump is helping the GOP lose. Therefore he's an American hero.

Trump has... what, 10% in a couple of states? 12%?

Would you like to compare that to the portion of Democrats who supported Michael Moor, or Howard Dean?

No, the tendency to support the loudest, angriest person in the room is part of a subset of humanity, not necessarily republicans or democrats.

No, he's not. As demonstrated by all the times he's opposed any position he might pretend to, now. He's saying what he thinks will get him on television. So, quit the opposite, Trump isn't truth-telling, he's plying when he pretends to be someone who holds conservative positions. Because when you actually look at what he's advocated over the years, Trump is the biggest RINO in the race - he's to the left of Chris Christie and Jeb Bush, for cripes' sake.

It's more or less shown that a sizable portion of the GOP base aren't concerned about creeping liberalism so much as wanting to ensure that people of color aren't respected in this country.

This "RINO" stands amused.
