In a press conference at the South Carolina Freedom Summit — hosted by Citizens United and Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-SC) — Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) told reporters that Christians face persecution in the United States. But when a journalist pressed Blackburn for examples of Christian persecution on American soil, Blackburn could cite nary an example, the Huffington Post reports.“Can you be specific about the instances in which you feel that Christians are being persecuted?” a reporter inquires of Blackburn.

“You know, there have been several lately. There’ve. Um. I can’t give you a specific (pause) right off the cuff,” Blackburn shrugs. “I’m sorry.”
Then Blackburn smiles, turns away from the reporter, looks back toward the camera, and says, “Yeah. Thanks.”

:lamo More of the rights imaginary boogeymen are comin for ya! The persecution of Christians!!! More fear, and false victimizations.

Yeah the poor put upon Christians, they need someone to hate them, so their hate can be justified. My God

It is the same old story. It gives them someone to blame, gives them an excuse for more mic time, and in the end is only something taken seriously by fellow Christians.

Its like the fake war on Christmas. Bill O'Rielly does a bit on it and it turns out he was selling "Holiday" ornaments on his web site. Too funny!

If she couldn't think of an example the poor person must have had a black out. Because there are examples and they seem to have increased. You know that.

Okay, share some with us.

Okay, share some with us.

As there have been a number of such incidents discussed here recently, you know of them. So think about it. It is an important social skill to recognize persecution of citizens one oneself dislikes. ;)

I know of several times when Christians complain about losing special privileges, but no actual instances of institutionalized discrimination. Name some instead of laying on some BS.

Maybe you should rethink your position. Your BS is childish. ;)

It is a slap in the face to Christians in this world that do face real persecution for Christians in the United States to claim they are being persecuted.

Typical of the whiny christians. Bonus: They are losing market share...LOL

Okay, as a part of the Affordable Care Act, churches, religious hospitals, and other religious institutions being forced to provide contraception to their employees. That in itself is oppressive, because the church's stance is against contraception. There's one example, would you like to discuss it or should I provide more first and then we can debate?

I think I meant to reply to you and accidentally did not. My reply is on the second page of the comments!

They aren't forced to provide anything. They're never required to touch the stuff. We're not talking about any religious organization having anything to do with dispensing healthcare. We're talking about paying for insurance. These organizations just aren't given a special privilege and have to follow the law just like everyone else. They have to pay for health insurance that's up to standards, and that includes comprehensive reproductive healthcare for women. Why on earth do you think that religious affiliation should allow someone to pick and choose which laws to follow?

if we go by the dictionary definition of persecution, this very thread can be used as an example... as can the other multiple threads wherein militant atheists are hostile towards a people for no other reason than their religious beliefs.

though, as someone has pointed out, focusing on this sort of "minor" persecution really diminishes the persecution Christians around the world face as they are being slaughtered over nothing more than their faith.

Outstanding point.
