I have a friend who is very right wing. We've been business friends for decades, but have nothing in common politically or socially. Okay, so here's the thing. For the past three years he has essentially refused to water his lawn because he didn't like that the "government" of this SoCal city requires that lawns be presentable, not overgrown and not dead. Now he never got cited for his dead lawn during the summer, but nonetheless he was so proud because he was bucking the system.

What happened last week? Brown issues a water restriction mandate and... my friend immediately repaired all his sprinklers and set the timer to run daily.

This has been a look into the bizarre and insane mind of extremist Republicans.

Insanity, hysterical except for that fact that it isn't in cartoon format.

I've lived in communities where the HOA required presentable lawns, but never the government requiring such.

but yeah... people being contrary isn't a new thing, or particularly rare...
most people identify it as a form of protest...

he might want to rethink his protest though...he might have been doing his part to conserve water in the past, but to turn around and waste it now isn't very smart.

Interesting. I wonder how this business "friend" would define you?

Your friend is a normal human, they just don't like being told what to do and apparently is willing to pay for that sentiment. There are lots of people that feel the same way as your friend, me being one of them. Besides he paid for the water right? He should be able to use as he sees fit. Its one of the reasons people go out of their way to get property unencumbered with homeowners associations and property covenants. There are others that do just the opposite.

By the way just so you should know, you might want to realize others view you as you view republicans,..... insane.

why do you talk about an individual, yet later you use a "plural" ....to denote extremist?

Sounds like a non extremist socialist neighbor near Aix la Chapelle. Almost the identical story.

Facit: you misunderstood, what you saw.

If he bought the water its his to do with as he pleases. What if he shipped in 8,000 gallons of fresh New York Hudson Bay water to run down the drain.:))) Should we stop him?

Some people aren't smart.

Well I actually live very conservatively, so he probably hasn't a clue.

That's certainly the perspective I would've jumped on.

Seriously? A socialist, by his own definition or yours? If by his, he's not using it anywhere near correctly.

i'm just going by your rhetoric here on the forum...it's all i have to go off of, really.

You choose to read more emotion in it than there is. I'm usually chuckling quite a bit. Typing is such an inaccurate representation of the whole, don't you think?

Obedience is for the sheep.

His actions have to do with being told what to do towards the water issue. He clearly doesn't care one little bit about conserving water.
