Rick Perry Apparently Serious About Trying To Be President Again | Wonkette
Rick Perry

“Abraham Lincoln read the Constitution, and he also read the Bill of Rights, and he got down to the Tenth Amendment, and he liked it. That Tenth Amendment that talks about these states, these laboratories of democracy. … The Tenth Amendment that the federal government is limited, its powers are limited by the Constitution.”

:lol::lol::lol:

Guess the glasses aren't helping much with actual learning.
Did he forget that this was "the war of yankee aggression"?

Re: Idiot Perry claims Lincoln was a strong states' rights proponent- 2016 DOA?

He was, once the nation was united.
Lincoln was a zero sum person. All or nothing.
The fact that he was the only president to wage war on his own people may give some, like me, to pause on his place in history. None of that is taught in school.

Lincoln didn't wage war on his own people. He fought those in the South who tried to destroy the United States.

BTW: the North won and the South lost.

No, the south did not try to destroy anything. Only keep what it had.

What did it have? Grits? Biscuits and gravy? Was the north trying to end all fried chicken?

Actually it was the traitorous South that waged war on the United States. You might have heard of Fort Sumpter - if you haven't, there's always Wikipedia.

I love the attempt by Southerners to rewrite history. Always amusing.

Yeah. Which was the right to buy, sell, rape, and murder black people.

You gotta love these unreconstructed Southerners. In their small little world, the Civil War was about anything except slavery. The North fought to preserve the Union. The South fought to preserve slavery.

Not so fast, sir. The South will rise again! LOL

You ever visit one of those websites with the Confederate flags at the top and all sorts of proclamations about how the South was right and Lincoln was the anti-Christ? They can be absolutely hilarious. Of course they do call into question the sanity of those folks devoted to them, but that's part of the fun.

No, I didn't even know those existed. That's hilarious. It's funny because those are the same people who will tell Black people that they need to "get over slavery" when they're still fighting a war from the 19th century.

Re: Idiot Perry claims Lincoln was a strong states' rights proponent- 2016 DOA?

I don't think many people realize that the super rich of the USA that era were the slave owning plantation owners. They literally had total power, life and death power, as if gods themselves over their slaves. They could do anything to them. Rape them. Torture them to death. Beat them at will. Use the women as breeding stock - their breeding stock.

The one thing they didn't have? Their own exclusive empire, their own countries. That is what the Civil War was about. They plantation owners were little gods who not only were not willing to risk the right to rape and murder as they wished, but wanted more. They each wanted their own empires.

I agree with your post.
A small minority of southerners actually owned slaves, I think.
I'm wondering what sort of media spin those super rich plantation owners used to get the non-slave owning southerners to secede.

I see you are stuck on middle school brain washing.

I see you are pretending the Civil war would have happened-- ceteris paribus-- if slavery had never existed in the USA.

May or may not have. States rights. Income inequality (everyone thinks that's new), manufacturing.
