Well, a libertarian doesn't have to be a flower child nor do they have to avoid calling a spade a spade because people think it's mean. A spade is a mother****ing spade and people need to learn to deal with it. I don't need to accept this woman's life choices and I don't have to consider her worthy of respect. Deal with it.

so what you guys are really saying is if a person is a capitalist of any sort, they are inherently "right wing" , despite any other beliefs on any other issues.

I'll make sure she get's the memo. I'm sure she'll be devastated.

You do know that the reason she did it was because she couldn't get a government approved loan and didn't want to saddle herself and her family with debt in order to pay student loans? Your position doesn't seem very consistent with the ideals that you prize.

I'm not speaking for Sangha, but I don't follow a linear thought pattern in regards to political philosophy. I like the political compass chart because it adds another axis. I'd like to find/create one with a third axis, even.

She was an 18 year old (at the time) trying to make ends meet without resorting to graduating with tens of thousands of dollars of debt (not a great position to be in, I can assure you). I won't be taking any lessons in life from her but at the same time I won't judge her for making the decision she did either. We all did stupid stuff at 18, and it seems she wants to gives life a real go, why begrudge her that?

As for your side note, plenty of college students identifying as libertarian receive student loans, because it's the only way the majority of students can get a hold of the ginormous amount of money they need to just open the door to a good career.

Why not? It's not inconsistent with libertarian philosophy as I understand and practice it.
