.....BEFORE Obama Said.

President Obama assured the American public that our country’s Ebola risk was extremely low, even after a federal government-funded study quietly found a nearly 25 percent chance of Ebola reaching the United States in September 2014.

The Defense Threat Reduction Agency and the federal government’s Models of Infectious Disease Agency co-funded a September 2 analysis on the threat of Ebola’s spread to countries including the United States, Israel’s Arutz Sheva reported. The analysis was circulated among federal government officials prior to its September 2 publication date. The analysis found a nearly 25 percent “probability of Ebola virus disease case importation” to the United States within 3 to 6 weeks.

Nevertheless, President Obama falsely said on September 16 that experts “across our government” agree that America”s Ebola vulnerability was extremely low. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also repeatedly assured the American people that the Ebola risk was low, even after the alarming government study was completed......snip~

Either his usual lying to the media and the people, or just sheer utter and unbelievable levels of incompetence. I don't see how it could be anything else.

Also in the news:

Now what is it that they know, or have come to realize, that President Obama and the CDC hasn't?

It's a shame but I can't be surprised by anything coming out of this Administration ... notice I didn't say "anymore".

So was he watching that Benghazi riot inducing video again or just listening to the same staffers repeat the same ole s.....

If there was a 25% chance of Ebola spreading to the USA, that means there was a 75% chance it wouldn't spread to the USA.

That's 3 to 1 odds against Ebola reaching the USA. How would you bet?

Mornin' Eorhn. :2wave: Well, according to BO and his Team. If we do that then it will make it harder for people to be tracked down. At least that's what he is saying.

Once I knew what things were like at the source.....I would have went with someone would bring it here, at 25%.

Liberian visitor Thomas Eric Duncan’s arrival in Dallas on September 20 validated the study’s findings with two days to spare.....snip~

All of 25% ?
I think we all knew there was a 100% chance whether travel bans were instituted or not.
It was always a question of just how widespread. Obviously when you are totally irresponsible in controlling mivement of people the dangers are dramatically increased as we are seeing.

Pfffft! Obama is demanding politically correct answers and advice from his 'experts', his political experts more so than the medical ones, I'm suspecting.

Haven't we learned yet that excessive political correctness is this president's underlying principal and ideology?

You may think the teams look the same but Ebola ain't a Lakers game.

Have you noticed that from the start he has a new excuse for not doing the travel ban as each old one falls away.

I've noticed that very few people outside of Africa have this disease.

But that doesn't stop some people from being absolutely terrified that they're going to catch it and die.

Mornin B. :2wave: Did you know this CDC guy Frieden.....use to be Bloomberg's Health Commissioner-for NY City.

He says he thinks it may make sense for him to appoint an Ebola Czar.....he may not be able to follow what Valerie Jarrett says should be done.

Obama: Ebola Czar 'may Make Sense'.....

President Barack Obama said Thursday night that it "may be appropriate" for him to appoint a czar to lead his administration's response to Ebola. "It may make sense for us to have one person ... so that after this initial surge of activity, we can have a more regular process just to make sure that we're crossing all the T's and dotting all the I's going forward." Obama also said he has no "philosophical objection" to a ban on travel between West Africa and the United States.....snip~

At best it can be argued that Obama used the best language possible to frame the issue in a more positive light, though he wasn't wrong as a matter of semantics (as you point out).

Why should the president of the USA promote the idea that the sky is falling when obviously it isn't?

There are plenty of people filling in for Chicken Little. Read some of the news reports on this Ebola scare.

Obama did not specify the 25 percent figure. If he had, it wouldn't have gone well with saying " the chances of an Ebola outbreak here in the United States are extremely low". Low, yes, that could be argued to be around 25 percent, but EXTREMELY low, while not specific, surely (in layman's terms) means something far less than a 25 percent chance.

I agree. If I think there's a 25% chance that my house is going to be hit by a hurricane I'm probably leaving town.

I guess it all depends on what's going on.

Funny how he doesn't want to call for a travel ban from the infected countries.....yet he wanted to Ban all Big Gulps from NYC, huh?

It's all so logical.

And the people in Africa used to say that too.

"You will get to keep your insurance and keep your doctor".

No it didn't. It gave a range of calculated estimates for a number of different countries. The range for the USA was especially wide and while the report doesn't give the raw figures (which is frustrating), the graph seems to show a range from low single figures to the low 20s. The top end certainly isn't close to the clear 25% line.

I'm going to go with the figures that the WHO is predicting, because it's their job to monitor this, and they have no dog in this fight! "1.4 million worldwide by December of this year, and if it not stopped by May 2015, it will be unstoppable worldwide until it has no new hosts to infect!" Then it will go underground just like the Black Plague did in the Middle Ages. Can you imagine hearing the shout "bring out your dead" in our advanced 21st Century world? I'll bet none in Europe at the time could have ever expected to hear those horrifying words, either - but they did.....
